Forum gear survey. What's in your bag and how long have you owned it?

Driver, PING G10 - 2yrs, Plans to get another G10 with different loft but more probably switch to I15.

Fairway, PING G10 - 18 months, No plans to change

Hybrid, PING G10 - 18 months, No plans to change

Irons, Titleist ZM Forged - 2 years, Will change to a cavity / forged blend iron in 12-18 months or sooner if finances permit.

Wedges, Vokeys - 2 years, Will change them when I change the irons

Putter, one from either... Odyssey 2 ball white hot - 3 years, Odyssey 2 ball (mid) white ice - 5 months or Scotty Newport 2 - 2 years. No plans of buying a new putter, yet ;)

As the only Benross whore on the forum, I think they should be looking to find me a nice 4h and 52* wedge ( about the only things I need )

I'm also due a new Ping driver when I can eventually get it sorted, and I'm really looking to compare that with the cheapy cheapy Benross.

All aquired over the last 9 months, and very happy with it. I would happily look at more expensive alternatives if the numbers came in, but no reason to otherwise.

Driver - Benross VeloCT 10*

4W - Benross VT Xtreme 17*

3h - Benross VeloCT 20*

4h - Nickent somethingorother 23*

Irons 5-SW - Benross V6

Putter - Smiffy's old MD Superstrong Aladdin ( Cut down to 34" with a 'Yes' grip added )

Total cost - £270 for the Benross + £20 for the Nickent + I still owe Smiffy a pint for the putter ( even tho he refuses to play with me )

Now tell me the Mizunos and TM etc are worth the extra hundreds of £££.

:p

Ping G5 Driver - Dug this out and hitting it better than all the new ones I tried. 2 Years

Fairways, Titleist 906 F2 3&5. 2 Years.

Irons, Titleist 775 3-PW, Had these 2 1/2 years, going to treat myself after xmas to some new ones.

Wedges, Mizuno T-Series Raw Haze, 51/56/60, 3 Years, About to be replaced as they are worn out.

Putter - There is a sore point. I cant find it. Im sure I lent it to someone when I jacked due to the injury but no-one is fessing up. So I am putterless and in the market for one.

Hey John
I thought you sold all your gear???

In defence of Selling his gear, I did the same when I had to pack up because of my back.

If I hadnt I know I would have been too tempted to play or go down the range and do myself a mischief so I suppose the same applies here, if the gear is there, so is the temptation.

The only thing I wish I didnt sell was my vokeys.

The only thing I wish I didnt sell was my vokeys.

I kept hold of the already relegated stuff which I had chucked in the mother in laws garage.

The vokeys went on here, the Cobra F-Speed Driver & 3 Woods along with the Titleist 735cm Irons went on fleabay as did the Gokart (which I regret)

I kept hold of the previous set of irons & driver so I could start swinging again with out major £££ Outlay. The 775's are well used but still good. The mizuno wedges I hid away are shagged though.

The thing I have discovered is that the G5 is better for me than the 907D1 which in retrospect, I probably bought whilst being a bit of a tart about having matching titleist kit.

Google map says it's a 4 hour 40 minute drive up there.

Add the 'M25 experience' and a quick loo break, and it's at least 5 and a half hours, probably near 6.

So if I get up, and leave home at 7am, I'd get there for about 12.30. What's the fitting take ? An hour ?

Call it 2.00 pm.

Then drive home, needing a longer break for dinner this time, and I arrive chez moi at about 9.00 pm.

I haven't quite managed to plan that into a working day yet.

Unlike some of you rebrobates, I have to work for a living.

:p

Clive, contact Tim at Ping, PM Mike Harris and he'll put you in touch.

I' probably about the same distance as you from Ping. Instead of making the trip Tim arranged for me to hook up with the Ping rep and get a fitting from him when he was in my area. As it so happened I managed to get fitted at the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond. Great day out!

I would loved to have gone to Ping HQ and done the factory tour etc and by the sounds of things from Smiffy the course is something I have missed out on.

Ping guys are fantastic to deal with and the service was superb, so once again thanks to Tim and all at Ping.

Driver, TM Burner 2007 with S flex 3 years old no plans to change.

5W,3W same as above but maybe only 1-2 years old, love them and no plans to change.

Titleist AP2 DG r300 5-GW about a year old, love them no plans to change (unless CF decides S flex?)

Taylormade R5 rescue, 3 years old will probably change next season.

Putter, Odyssey 2 ball white hot about 5 years old, no plans to change.

If you could make it a 2 dayer Clive I'd be tempted to come up there with you. Gainsborough GC have two 4 bedded apartments that they rent out at the club and you can get a nights accommodation up there, with evening meal and breakfast with 18 holes thrown in for £75.00. An extra round of golf would cost £20.00.
I'd be up for travelling up one day, have a knock in the afternoon, stay overnight and then another round the following morning and then drive home. The course was THAT good. Bargain. And I'd share the travelling costs with you and help you fish your ball out of the many lakes.
;)

Would be more than happy to be a Benross whore. Used to have the VeloCT driver and would have one again, loving the fairway woods at the moment (£20 ebay bargain) and go back to my Pure Red putter when my current one misbehaves (and if it continues to do so and I cannot afford a Ghost then I may well geve the new range a try). Never hit a Benross Iron but really like the look of the recent releases. Actually prefer Benross to MD in most areas (all except wedges) .

Driver: TaylorMade R9 SuperTri - 4 days - Still assessing, but seems promising.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade R7 CGB Max 3 and 5 woods - Had since December - No plans to change the 3 wood, however, I'm looking to replace the 5 wood with a 3 iron replacement hybrid.

Hybrid: TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 4i replacement - Had just under 6 months - No plans to change. Currently favourite club in the bag by far and looking to add a 3i replacement in the same model.

Irons: TaylorMade R7 irons 5i - PW - December - No plans to change at the moment.

Wedges: TaylorMade RAC Chrome 50, 56, 60 degrees - December - No plans to change, although the 56* is getting a bit battered so might replace while they still sell the same model with the old grooves.

Putter: Oddysey White Hot Tour Rossie - December - No plans to change, love it.

I mainly have stuff in my bag. No plans on changing any of it anytime soon. No great thought as to why it is in there, no great plan as to when to replace it. All I know is, if I play well, it gets the job done. If I don't, it isn't the kit in my bag. It's me.

Driver: Ping G10 - about a year after my G2 that I loved cracked. No plans to change it

3W: Ping G2 - 5 years. Will probably change it when I can afford to.

Hybrid: Yonex Nanospeed 3i 19deg - 2 months. Suspect I will have this for many years.

Irons: Ping S59 - 5 1/2 years. They will have to fall apart before I consider changing.

GW: Ping Tour-W 52deg - 8 months.

SW: Ping Tour 56deg - 5 years. Would change for a Tour-W if I could afford. Nothing wrong with it but the Tour-W is worthwhile upgrade

LW: Cleveland Tour Action Reg 588 60deg - 4 years. See SW

Putter: Ping Karsten Zing - 2 years. No plans to change.
