I watched the game yesterday when we beat Leeds 4-2, really happy and was thinking this could be the game that we could push on from. 1 point of Play off position and the new owners long term plan seems to be on track.

Come in from work this morning and see the manager has been sacked ????

He has been in for 5 months and in my opinion needed a season to get the new players playing as a team.

Now being told the owners have changed the long term plan and want promotion now. Why did they not state this at the start? The favourite for the job is Alex Mcleish???????

I think another frustrating season for me , unless I get proved wrong and the new bloke gets us promoted.:D:D

Feel sorry for O'Driscoll. He had no idea it was coming as he was on the TV being interviewed and he was planning his January targets for new players. He seemed to be doing a decent job. I kind of hope it blows up in the owners face and they miss out

You have got McLeish so welcome to the world of anti-football.

Mind you looking at it logically it is probably a perfect manager/club/supporters match.

How many managers in the last 10 years????/

In my view a poor appointment, Ok McLeish took Birmingham to promotion, then back down again, then messed up at Villa. Dont rate him at all

I thought the guy they sacked was doing a good job, just a point outside the playoffs, Very short term view from the owners,

He was doing a cracking job in my opinion and I really do feel as though they binned him as they wanted a bigger name. Really not looking forward to seeing what I believe is a bad choice in the role of the club manager. Hopefully I will be proved wrong but I doubt it.
I will still get behind him and support my club but he has a lot to do to win the fans including me over.

As most people who follow football know , football fans are very fickle and if he does well and beats Derby, he will be the best thing ever.

It's par for the course nowadays with these foreign owners, sacking managers on a whim as they think they can attract bigger name managers. I suppose its the price you pay once you become a mega rich persons play thing.

Still, could be worse, you could be Blackburn.

Not one of Alex McLeish's teams have ever played good football.

It's a real shame for forest as I remember when newcastle were in the championship this was the match I looked forward to. They played good football never changed their style of play for different opposition. Selling a few players and eventually sacking the manager started their downfall

Thread resurrected as Forest have parted company with McLeish after a month
Thats even less than Brian Clough at Leeds

Wonder if they will bring back Cotterill?

From what I hear, it was not certain that he would stay that long. Apparently he was all for walking out when the chairman stopped him signing Boyd from Peterborough last week.

I don't know what to say , Forest have become a laughing stock with managers and players , look at the recent crap in the Jan window. Who in the right mind would want to come to us ??

So who will the next manager be ? Would like to see the bloke that Southampton sacked take over, but would he really want to come to us after what has happened ?

Here is hoping for a miracle , playing our ex managers team next , God knows what is going to happen.

I would take Nigel Adkins in a heartbeat, but I fear they'll bring in someone like Roy Keane :(

The start of the season held much promise with the signings that were made and I was at the game on Boxing Day against Leeds, it was the first time I'd watched them live this season and they played as good as I've seen them play in 3 or 4 years. I was in the 1865 club after the game with some of the guys from the club sponsors and the club lawyers were in and there was a buzz about the place amongst the front office staff due to some "big" news...which was obviously Alex McLeish...Bet they're not excited now! *facepalm*

Five managers in 4 years....you are just trying to keep up with Chelski.

Well rid of McLeish, great player, poor manager of good players.
Does quite well with poor players though, but don't get excited about the skill level.

I recon you will get Terry Butcher.

Bully Boy Roy in line for the job .. good luck with that nut job..

mind you in saying that , following McLeish you cant do much worse ..

Best of Brittish man

Not so.

He created a team at hibs that was joyous to watch.Franck Sauzee and Russell Latapy pulling the strings, Mixu and Kenny Miller upfront, Matty Jack enforcing. All at a price, though. Our chief exec is Rod Petrie, a big Aberdeen fan and was somewhat star-struck by McLeish and allowed him to spend daft money, putting us in serious financial difficulty.

McLeish assured Hibs fans publicly he wasn't going anywhere when rumours of Rangers surfaced, only to resign from the job the day before we played them at Ibrox, hey presto the following day he was in the Rangers dugout.(Mod Edit)
