Forest of Arden

I played it on the 10th and whilst I was decent tee to green I putted crap!

my tip would be to not try and hole every putt but try and 2 putt all the greens. being agreesive can see you 4-5 ft beyond or worse.

The course itself is quite open so tee shots aren't really a problem.

good luck :)

I played it last Saturday and really enjoyed it for the most part.

Gibbo's right - the greens can be tough. Even when you think you're only going to trickle past you can end up looking a bit stupid.

I went on a night break with the other half and got what I thought was a pretty good deal but the three guys I got put with to play had it even better. Think they had paid just over £50 for the round, a bucket of balls, bacon buttie before and £10 food voucher for after.

The way I got it round was refusing to take on any of the par 4's over 400 yards and played the par 5's as 3 shotters. Winner of my handicap division and runner up overal in the GM Centenary Final vindicated the game plan

Good Plan.....I'm in the Northern Finals of the Matchplay Championships being held there on the 3rd April so need some advice as its not what I am used to!

Many thanks for the advice.

Haven't got the scorecard to hand but off my 13 handicap pretty sure all of the 400+ par 4's were stroke holes and so effectively par 5's anyway. A couple of the par 5's were on the limits for me but figured I'd rather take 5 for 2 points than risk going for it, miss the green and end up with 6 for 1

To be honest I blew the 1st for a blob after three putting but it was the par 3's that hurt. Missed the green on the 8th and dropped a shot and 3 putted the 15th. The 7th is a par 5 that can be attacked and Bladeplayer hit the 17th in two (and three putted) so thee are chances out there

from bout 15feet & was lucky to do so ha .... yea also found the greens tough thought they were very fast ,, the putting greens were the same speed tho so practice pace rather than holing out before you go out .. no need for driver on the 2nd .. stay out of the scouts den on 11 ( i think) As Homer said the par 3's are tough esp 15 & 18.. stroke index 18 is a 160 par 3 all over water... Hope you enjoy it & good luck
