Just wondering who here is heading to the Forest Of Arden next week? I know myself, bladeplayer & homer but any other regulars?

Also anywhere online where we can see the course layout, I checked out their website but there are only a few photos

I've played the Arden course hundreds of times, and to be honest it depends which tee's they use,and how much they tighten the fairways. It's quite long (even longer off the blue tee's) but fairways are quite generous.
Front 9 is very bland, back 9 is in the old deer park, lots of mature oaks, bracken, and depending on time of year "Deer".

Yeah - watch out for the poo!!

Should be lovely this time of year.
Agree that the front is a little dull compared to the back but it's still a cracking course.

I read a review of the course (http://www.goingforgolf.com/courses_and_resorts/listing/forest_of_arden/) & it says depending on the wind the tee shot on the last "can be anything from a five-iron to a three-wood", I think I can safely predict I will be hitting driver no matter which way the wind is.....

Just a reminder Bill that you need to check in online with Ryanair at least 4 hours before you depart otherwise they charge you extra for the pleasure.

They do have trolleys and strokesavers, the 18th isn't as intimidating as it would appear.Your basically hitting over a lake that is in a huge depression, the green is also at a lower level than the tee.The green is very generous, and theres lots of room around the green, especially on the right.
Most intimidating tee shot imo,is the 9th,trees and rough on the left, trees and water on the right.
The course is always in fanatastic condition at this time of year,so i'm sure those playing will enjoy the experience.
The most scarey thing at the Forest,is the price's !!!!
Beer and food,isn't cheap.

played there 2 weeks ago, all in great nick
do not hit driver on 2nd, you can shave corner with long iron/rescue leaving 100 or less, driver brings all sorts of problems
otherwise i think the big dog can come out on all the others.....except the par 3's (before some bright spark comments)

Yes I will be there. Not even had a chance to think about it, got back from holiday a couple of hours ago, off to Goswick tomorrow for the England v Scotland match with a stop of for a round with Vig, TonyN and Viscount on the way. Busy times at the moment.

I'm also there, 11.30 tee time, and have had a similar lack of success finding an on-line course guide.

The best I've managed is google maps satellite view. As Mungo says, the 18th isn't too scary, the actual carry over the water looks no more than 150 yards and if you hit a fade you're very unlikely to go in the water. There are quite a few holes though where water is very close to the green so some accurate approach play will be needed! On the back nine the two par 5s and the dogleg 16th? feature such water.

I assume everybody is staying over so will see you all in the bar Wednesday evening. Looking forward to it, it's going to be a great day!

Unfortunately we won't be over until late on Wednesday, due to land at the airport about half 9 or so but will definitely see you in the bar at some stage Wednesday night. Looking forward to it, hoping the weather is decent

Had a lesson on Sunday so definitely bringing the Y game if not quite my Z one. Got HID up with me so we're be in the bar for a soft drink or two (she doesn't and I can't). Mind you if I break 25 points on Thursday I'll have a couple of libations and stuff doctors orders.

Over early on the wed, landing around 1.30 or so, HID wants to go shopping in Birmingham, Will pop into the bar for couple of sociables & intoductions to other forum members that night ,

Probably be 8.00 before I am over. Have a full day at work to do until 5.30 then need to head home to pick up clubs etc.

Will be in the bar as early as I can though.
