Another incident in the for sale section (see wanted Ping s57's) this happens quiet a lot, why is it when someone is trying to sell their unwanted gear that someone always ends up sticking their oar in and starting a real incident. An unintended quip can have consequences for the seller and can put people off buying. I'ts happend to me and others. I understand everyone has likes and dislikes in gear but just because you don't like a particular club or manufacturer the for sale section should not be the place to voice your opinions.
Three pages because of a silly remark is ridiculous.

Definately agree with you Drawboy,it has happened to me in the past.
I never slate anyone whos selling,i look,if im interested i will make an offer,if not i move on.
It beats ebay and most people give a good deal.

I agree. If the comment hadnt been made at all nothing would have happened.

However i only posted as thecraw, in my opinion, overstepped the mark and wasnt sure if the young lad wouod defend himself.

Everyone should go by the same rules tht said, mates or otherwise, and any comment not directly related to the sale or purchase removed.

Again only my opinion.

I agree selling posts should be left alone & the only posters should be the seller and anyone who is interested.

However in this particular case others got involved because of a crass over reaction, to what was just a kid messing around. The kind of reaction that the joke offer got wasn't, quite rightly, tolerated.

The lad was having a laugh and the craw went way overboard. Behaved like a total prick imo. He wouldn't of had that reaction on the street, so why do it when your hiding behind a keyboard.

so this is now another thread thats going to degeneraate into a slanging match? no comments in for sale sections should be a forum rule and it should have been stopped before it got started.

Spot on. On every other forum that I've been that has a for sale section, there is no chat whatsoever that isn't between the vendor and potential purchasers.

But the OP was looking for clubs, not selling them. If I've seen the clubs that he wants in AG, can I not tell him?

I'm disappointed that the mods didn't step into the thread in question. I've noticed that the language on this forum has started to get quite bad and, perhaps more worryingly, I've noticed that people are now very quick to enter into a slanging match in which name calling begins very quickly.

This used to be a very good forum - perhaps the best - I fear standards are slipping.

Please note - I'm not against a good discussion where opinions differ - that's life. What I object to is the name calling and bad language.

I totally agree the mods are to blame for this, I'm not bashing them but it should have been stopped in it's tracks.

There are a fair few "keyboard warriors" on here that are happy to say things in anonimty but wouldn't be so forward face to face (at least not twice). I agree that there are a few on here that throw toys big time and use gutter language as ammunition. I've had more than the odd spat on here but at least I've tried to keep most of my responses civilised without resorting to petty name calling and certainly without punctuating every sentence with expletives.

There does seem to be an increase in swearing and perhaps some of the threads (yes I hold my hand up too) may not have been too politically correct but all in all I think we're pretty well managed apart from Brendy getting itchy fingers on a regular basis. We've done well to make it the best forum around and we do need to keep vigilant towards the way we behave to each other less the great powers that be decide to pull the plug.

take it easy, it will ease its way out. we go through this from time to time, though admittedly more usually in the winter when all are suffering withdrawal symptoms.

Haven't seen the thread so won't comment on the content. I've notice this thread bashes the mods for not stepping in, just remember mods have jobs and lives away from this forum and modding is free, their not paid for it. Ideally all forums should have a fleet of paid mods, but this would mean joining fee etc to cover mod costs. Sometimes we have to be responsible for our own actions, there is nothing to stop us self modding ;)

OS is right, we do have jobs and families to look after.
Pretty much everything I moderate will have a 'last edited by' note below it, I will not hide away from anything I deem inappropriate. If that makes me the big bad man, so be it. Last time I checked the forum was running great and that is partly down to the team of mods. You'd miss us if we were gone. Then again, you would get a lot more chance of a lifetime offers for shonky irons, rip off merchants and a penchance for potty mouths.

Sorry but I have to own up and take the punch square on the chin Drawboy. Not the Mods fault, I'm the one who decided not to let it go, I'm the one who started to dish out some choice words so its not the Mods fault at all.

I still stand by my original statement 110% if people don't like that then too bad as I won't be admitting I was wrong as quite frankly I wasn't. There was no need for him to get involved at all. The nonsense I posted after that (towards golfer84, or whatever his name is) was childish and done to keep winding folk up. Others then decided to stick their oar in (quite rightly so, see the Mono thread from years back) and again I decided to retort, again for the bites.

The mods on here do a dam fine job some more ruthlessly than others and I've had my run ins with them especially that "***" Brendy ;) but they cant be on here 24/7.

Twire, I appreciate you editing the thread and apologise for taking the thread in that direction. No one else to blame.

Drawboy I also agree 100% with you. Far too many people seem to think its acceptable to post "thats too expensive, thats crap" etc, (I wound up HTL over a pair of shoes) that needs to stop. If you have nothing positive or informative to say then don't say anything. If you have concerns PM the seller or anyone who posts that they're interested in buying.

Anyway I love the Mods.

Too sum up, I will say sorry to anyone who was offended, I will admit I was wrong to continue after my original post which as I say I stand by.

The ones who thought they were the modern day Robin Hoods, knights in shining armour, well, bring it on anytime I can retort with the best.

thecraw.

FS section should be comment free unless directly related to the actual purchase (if you want to tell someone where else they can buy said item send a PM), any transgression gets a warning and temp ban for repeating the offense (works well on other forums.
Forum software should filter out swear words and anyone getting round it deliberatly (like spacing out the word or inserting period points to get past the software) gets a warning them temp ban for repeating leading to full ban if done again.

Glad to see things tightening up, I nearly didnt come back here after a few malicious comments I got when I first joined :(

Thecraw...
For a start its Golfer1994!

I was merely making a comment that i had seen before around and was intended as a bit of a joke...
It was blown way out of proportion and i think you dramatically overreacted. An apology would go a long way but clearly you are not man enough to admit your mistakes.
I do slightly regret making the original comment because of what it has caused but it was harmless fun that turned into personal insults.
