Is it just me but.....does anyone else get irritated by folk bumping their items that are in the For Sale section? its like joss-ling for position at the top of the leader-board.

Im guessing its allowed in the rules section? if your that desperate to get something shifted quick surely you'd just stick it on ebay?

Maybe just me having a bad day, pretty pathetic to feel the need to write about it

Lol. Did I really post that?
Bad Monday: early morning 0600hrs wake up call to sort out issues at wrk.
Then lunchtime figured the rat is more likely to be rat-s judging by the mountain of shat I've found.
Then to compound my bad Monday someone else wins the RocketBAWS fitting day.

It would be easier if mods just deleted the threads which have sold so that the for sale section is accurate and up to date.

Thoughts???

Deleted or locked? If you start deleting threads which have sold then it will look like nothing happens in there, well that would be my opinion.

If you delete the items that have sold Chris it would mean items that are still for sale would remain at the top and visible.

Whether it looks as if there is little activity, who cares?

Would also free up space on the server.

At one other site I visit (AVFORUMS) they have very strict rules for buying/selling. Some of the important ones I have seen from their rules:
- All items MUST have a price
- All discussions remain on the forum until the parties have agreed the price, then move to PM for payment etc.
- First unconditional offer of asking price is the winner in a dispute.
- Only allowed to bump after 12 hours of your last update.

Seems to work quite well but they have very active selling forums. One thing that keeps the forums clean is that they have an Archived area for the completed items. It allows people to see/search old items to compare pricing and also keeps the main selling area clean of the old items too.

not sure how much you guys need to implement such strict rules (there are many many more) but its a good system they use and seems to work very well.

Part of the functionality of the forum is the ability to search everything. Sometimes it is handy to be able to search through the for sale section for the admin and moderators. It has proven useful on at least one occasion so far in the new software.
If you start deleting everything from a section, it lessens that ability.
The actual amount of data for the whole forum would maybe surprise you how small it actually is.

It's also useful if your are posting an advert to see how much previously sold items that are the same of similar have been advertised for. So, I don't think items that have been sold should automatically be removed, but do agree that the subject line should be edited to state "SOLD ITEM" by the OP.

I actually think Brendy has let the for sale forum slip if I'm being perfectly honest!

Could we have a For Sale-Wanted (Complete) section on the home screen which holds all of the completed threads for searching and the For Sale-Wanted section is kept clean and up to date?

No need matt, someone would have to move the threads then and that would be more work than just marking existing items as sold/outrageously overpriced/scammed/gone to ebay (*delete as appropriate)

Craw, Up yours jimmy! ;)
