Bought a pair of the above shoes I tried to 'break in' gently.

Went out for the first time yesterday and they rubbed towards the inner heel which caused major problems and a blister which is almost better now.

Do not want the same to happen again. Has anyone any ideas how to soften the leather or make or make it less of a problem next time?

Maybe they're too big if they're slipping at the heel? Just tape up your heels for a few rounds or wear thicker socks or 2 pairs of thinner socks. I wouldn't apply anything to the shoes.
I got new Footjoys at the start of this season and I find them comfortable.
Most comfy golf shoes I had were Phoenix but they went out of business

Classics are notoriously hard to break in. I have 5 pairs, so I kind of know. Luckily they do fit me very well, and are worth persevering with. Once broken in, they are the best golf shoes money can buy. Try wearing them round the house. See how it goes.

They don't put holes in your socks do they?

Er, no. They put holes in your feet. Similar, but less expensive / more painful.

Mine were a little stiff for the first few wears, but no blisters fortunately.

Just wear them for a few 9hole practice sessions and get them broken in well ?

I have a couple of pairs. I always wear them around the house for a couple of days first (soft spikes) then i'll wear them for a couple of practises (approx 2 hours each) then i'll do 9 holes in them, then i'm ready for 18!

Once i've done 18 a couple of times they are like carpet slippers!

Never ever had a problem on the heels though? Are you sure they fit properly and your not confusing US sizes with our own?

Try 1000 mile socks that you can buy at any shop like Millets or Blacks. You won't get any blisters...guaranteed!

I used to suffer with Classics but now only wear Ecco which are like slippers from Day 1.
