Footie

The best team in he world is the one that wins the World Cup. I'd suggest that th rest don't really matter. For what's its worth, I think ranking are a bit skewed and sometime puzzling. But over the last fours years we've actually done ok, plus we tend to go out of tournament on pens so they count as draws as far as ranking points go. I would suggest that in my opinion, and also based on results England are a better team than Portugal, doesn't mean to say we'd beat them in a on off match.

Can't disagree with most of that though I do think England are over rated and flattered by that ranking

I agree 4th might be high. Think on their day there are quite a few times. We're like Everton/spurs steady but falter when it counts.

Yeah, agreed, they might surprise us one day but I won't expect too much as I have in the past. There's been nothing but disappointment for me when it comes to football in the last year or 2

Made hard work of a proper crap team tonight. Why the hell did Woy wait until we had bloody conceded before making a sub? Loon

The rest of England can now see how bad he was and why the Kop wanted him out

I am only surprised he isn't playing konchesky!

Milner is just as bad as Konchesky, chopper of a footballer and should be nowhere near that team.

He's a very nice man though blah blah blah.

Biggest myth in football him aswell as Big Sam and Davey Moyes!

If you want good football, come and watch the Harriers. Could only draw with Woking last night but I didn't notice the cold weather at all. Hit the post, penalty shouts, wing play.good stuff all round.

Better than watching England
Roll on Braintree on Saturday.

I hate you Bigfoot!!!! We had His application in the summer and turned Him away. It was great to see Him when you came to visit. I grabbed Him and got Him to sign an old A4 photo I'd kept of Him for must be nearly 20 years. You've got a good 'un there. Knows how football should be played and stuck to His guns when you were bottom after six games. Idiots at ours were laughing then. Not now! I hope you get promoted!!!!

As for the clowns last night. I didn't watch, and will never watch them again. Useless! The lot of 'em. As for the ratings. I'm not surprised they are rated 4th. The others are no better. There is only Spain and Germany that are any good. (i can't comment on South American teams)

I don't know how many teams would have kept a manager after 10 games and just 5 points and no wins. They were always playing good football but not getting the breaks. We had a couple of injuries - Jack Byrne, a seriously good midfielder is still not back - and team back four were getting used to each other. We were thinking mid table would be a result.

The football we played against Newport at home was brilliant. Since then the players have more confidence. Great to watch.

I appreciate your sentiments but I think Mansfield are in a good position and playing well. We have points in the bag and they have Wrexham to play twice. It is going to be a great run in.

Whatever happens, i shall see some great football.

Come on you Reds.

They're going well that's for sure, it's a tough, tough league to get out of and a graveyard for ex league teams, looks like the playoffs are virtually guaranteed anyway.

It is a very difficult league to get out of. Look at Luton. Last year they played some excellent football against us but York went up in the playoffs and look at them now. Luton are probably a victim of their own success in the FA Cup and Trophy. Too many games. Harriers have managed to play most games, particularly at home. No fixture pile up. The others have games in hand but not much time to play. Newport have 9 games in 3 weeks.

Not easy when that happens. Particularly as the playoffs start on April 23/24 after the league season ends on April 20th.

The 2 seasons we were recently in the BSP we were up against big spenders like Fleetwood and Crawley who basically bought the league. To finish 1st you really need a squad that can hold its own in FL2 and beyond, look at the likes of Stevenage and Crawley, went straight through FL2 to FL1. Good luck though I think you need 5 straight wins to have any chance of holding onto top spot.

Talking of fixture backlogs, 2 teams in our league who have been on a cup run have 18 and 20 league games left plus the cup and the season ends on 27th April, there's possibly a 1 week extension but that's still crazy

The season is limited by the Champions League final being played at Wembley and UEFA not allowing other games there for 2 weeks before. That means the Playoff final for the Conference has to be on its set date of May 5th.

I saw Crawley at Harriers and they were not the best team I saw that year. I expected Luton to do better but I think the top 5 at present are the best five. Forest Green have slipped up after a good start and Macclesfield had a good run in the middle of the season. they could get in depending on results and how Grimsby play.

Money certainly makes a big difference at this level.

Speaking as a fan of the Mighty Mariners I would say probably very badly and there's still time for us to throw it away and go from top of the league a few weeks ago to outside of the play off zone yet.

It's a bit heartbreaking to see how we play nowadays, as up to few years ago we were known for our attractive football. But last time I saw them, calling it hoofball and head tennis was probably overselling it. So I've given up now. I even used to frequent a Grimsby Town forum but I left it to come here. That's how bad it was. ;)

Still. We only sing when we're fishing, sing when we're fishing, we only sing when we're fishing, sing when we're fishing......
