Fogged off!

Wakes up, looks out of window and can see for miles. drove a couple of miles and it's a pea souper. Got to the douse and can see the flags from tee with the sun trying its hardest to get rid of the fog. That was for three holes. Got on the fourth a par five and cannot even see the green. God it got cold. On the fifth a 135 yd par three we could not see the green. The guys in front never shouted owt, we only knew they were off the green as we could hear them teeing off. We were on the par three green, and the guys behind shout " can we tee off" four of us were screaming NOOOOOOOOOOO.
It was as stoopid as stoopid is. Did nine and thought sod it. Most of those on the course did the same.

So you carried on in thick fog on 2 holes rather than just walk in, surely it was too dangerous to continue if it came down 'as thick as ever'!

We have a coloured disc nailed to a tree down the fairway at about 240 yards off the whites, if we can't see the disc we don't tee off and the pro will sound the hooter and close the course.

We knew for a fact that nobody was playing those holes in front of us.

If you can't see our first green, you can not tee off. Even a few forumers might struggle to hit it 330 yards up hill.:D

Last time I was fogged off was the forum meet at East Brighton a few years ago.

I'm sorry but to tee off when you can't see the green at 135 yards is stupid in itself, you should walk in, it's dangerous, unless your all such great golfers that you're guaranteed to hit the green, and even then I don't think you should!

@Delc, same as, just because nobody is playing directly in front of you if the fog was that bad you should walk in, what if you hooked or sliced a tee shot, was there anyone else on the course on neighbouring fairways, and if the fog was as bad as you state, you wouldn't know because you wouldn't see anyone, even greenstaff!

But, with all that said, the pro or someone at the club should close the course as soon as it's deemed dangerous, people obviously can't be trusted to use common sense, especially when people are shouting down to a par 3 green to ask if they play their shots!

Mentioned this a while back..
Last time we had fog I asked what the "Fog Rule" was at our course.
"Natural selection" came the reply...😁😁

We've been shut all day. We've a marker down the 10th fairway and behind the 1st green and neither were visible by a long chalk apparently. All a bit Dickensian when I nipped up to retrieve a putter from my locker
