Does the captain/vice captain get paid??

I don't think there's 'direct' payment for any of the captains/players. I think its the potential increase and side deals where the money is

Why not give one of the "wags" a radio and they can update the score at every hole? Surely not too difficult a job for someone to do? Don't get why all these sporting events have so many "hangers on".

I’m not sure why it’s being called “jobs for the boys†- they don’t get paid , they will be made to do a lot of work for the captain up till the event and then during the week they are there. It’s not a paid job.
Vice captains have been around for a while Seve had a few and each captain has had any number from 3-5 depending on what number they are comfy with - Olly said he wished he had 5 , Faldo had one ( Olly ) but then had people like Spooney ?! And Kaymer hanging around. Monty had four but then added a fifth for the last day when it was all changed.
It also helps that the guys who are being picked are players who have been there and done it numerous times , they have the records to show how good they were and when the pressure is on , they are players that the current crop will look up and will feel comfortable leaning on or seeking advice. It then allows the captain to concentrate on the main stuff.
