In the "Forum Weightwatchers" post last week Mickytwodesks mentioned the book "Ernie Els' Guide to Golf Fitness". Well I picked up a copy and had a read through its various sections and it does seem to be quite a reasonable book for the average golfer to follow. It's a while since I've been to the gym regularly, but as part of my attempt to get my handicap down, I want to improve my overall fitness this year. I'm going to give this a go and see how things progress.

I've seen other books in the past but they were originally published in the USA so were a bit 'different' This one is easy to read and understand.

Is anyone else looking at starting an exercise regeim and if so what are you looking at doing to improve your fitness.

I'm looking at removing a few inch from the midriff (looking being the operative word!) Seriously though I am aiming to do a bit to get fitter and try and reduce the "love handles"
If it helps my game, so much the better.

Started going back to the gym, can hardly walk up the stairs at work ive been so sore!! Amazing how much your golf swing changes when your sore. Will take a few weeks until I can successfully do both again.

Not going to weigh in this week, going to wait till im back at work and do a full BMI assessment. But sticking with the training.

I am back playing 5's 3 times a week now that my ankle is better do this just to stay in shape.
I have also just started a training programme at the gym working on my strength and endurance to start with as I am running the Dundee half marathon in June.I havent done any serious running for about 10 years so will take me a while to get back in the swing of it.
