Has anyone ever tried the Fit For Golf App?

There seems to be a wide range of training programs with a lot of golf specific exercisers - has anyone had any success with the app in terms of improving their golf? Are the programs easy to follow etc.?

Be interested to hear anyone's experiences good or bad.

I have followed Fit For Golf on twitter and Instagram recently and the content looks good - but as it requires a monthly subscription to see the various plans/workouts I don't want to commit and it turn out to be a waste of time/money.

Thanks in advance.

I'm just about to cancel but that's due to my lack of commitment.

Given it's not a 12 month contract and the price is low then I would recommend signing up and seeing if it works. It's well constructed, significant amount of workouts for home, travel, gym, speedsticks etc all clearly laid out with videos for each exercise and an ability within the app to schedule workouts. Videos are in a format you'll have seen on his twitter account and you tube but it's all pulled together a bit more.

Potentially too much content (i.e. deciding on what workout programme to follow), and it takes a bit of time to go through workouts as I was checking exercise video and then doing the reps.

I think to do it properly you want to be committing to measuring swing speed in some way whether weekly driving range or a speed monitor so that you can see the benefit. I didn't which along with getting busy has just meant i haven't committed to it. Still given me food for thought when doing workouts going forwards.

Appreciate the reply - sounds like it might be a good idea to give it a go for month then even if it’s just for a better understanding of different golf related exercises.

Went through it most of 2019, swingspeed went up about 8mph, body shape changed, put on a noticable volume of muscle. Generally felt more healthy.

Doing it for a month your unlikely to see alot, I think its probably 3 month minimum to get sustainable gains. It took me about an hour and a half for each work out, 3 times a week with a full time job etc etc is a bigger commitment than I first thought particularly as your trying to hit balls and play golf too!

While giving all due credit to the program, a doubt it had much more impact than a standard strength program at any gym, so much so that after about 4 months i dropped the program and in effect taylored my own (which i found more enjoyable and easier to stick to) using the knowledge to app had given me.

Mike is pretty good at responding to questions on Twitter if you want to know anything specific.

Did you do this with someone in town?
As you know I’m as stiff as a board ?
Marty was doing stuff with Inverness physios. They are base's at the ice centre, can't remember what it was called but it was 5 sessions to start with for increased flexibility
