I've put my name down to help out caddying at the Carrick Loch Lomond next week for the first time (no experience necessary)...

Any hints or tips? :D

Keep up, shut up and don't make any mistakes.

Seriously, be friendly, don't try too hard, be 'invisible' and careful with the rules re attending flag, players equipment etc.
Keep a damp towel handy for cleaning ball and clubs.
Remember to replace divots and rake bunkers.

Like most jobs, it is not as easy as it looks.
I caddied for a friend in a few Pro tournaments and it is quite nerve racking.

I remember the days when i was a caddy during my college day, me along with my friends did lot of betting with the money we earned. I still have a great memories of those old days playing in the Srinagar golf course amid sprawling chinar trees.

Is this for the amateur championship??

If you need a run down on the course give me a shout.

Played with a guy today who's a full time caddy at Wentworth. He has been doing it for a year and is loving it. Pretty much as others have said keep up, shut up and keep it simple. Make sure the clubs are clean and only give advice if asked

Ive got caddying experiance on the European Seniors Tour and loved my time doing it.Advice well firstly ask you player what he wants you to do for him at the start of play this will put you in a more comfortable situation and you dont have to do any guess work which will only irritate your player.Dont suggest what club he should use unless you really know his distances for each club.Try and suss out the guys personality, does he want to talk between shots to settle him or does he want to stay in he's own zone and just want you to be a bag carrier.Dont be suprised if you get some verbal abuse even if its not your fault,if it is your fault and your players irritated things could get nasty but think ahead and dont take it to heart.Try and think one step ahead of your player, this is key to have the day moving smoothly.Hope it doesent rain for you as the job is 10 times harder,oh and enjoy it be patient and you will pick it up .
