Went to my club today with one of my playing partners to get a round in before tomorrows weekday comp (qualifier) - normally on a Tuesday the ladies have a comp with tees from 9.06 - 10ish, so we just rock up after 10 and get out no problem....

here comes the rant....

so I turn up at about 9.15 and hit a few down the range and do about 20 minutes putting waiting for my partner... not a full car park and no one was around the first tee during my whole 20 mins putting, so my partner turns up at 10, goes in the pro shop to see when we can go out... 11:45am!

Why so long you may ask...

the ladies had a block booking from 9 - 10.30 and the seniors couldn't play there comp on monday as it was a bank holiday, so they were going from 10.30 - 11.40!

A bit peev'd we decided to go out at about 10.15, no one else was on the tee or around. We counted how many groups were out on the course.... 3 groups of 4 ladies, we didnt have a sole in front of us until we caught up with the last group on 17.

It was ridiculous they could book at block of an hour and a half and only have 3 groups and we (as paying members aswell) have to go out 2 hours after our normal time!

GRRRRR!

Anyone else have this??

**RANT OVER**

They should leave a gap between block bookings , 30 minutes would do, so the early birds can go out before and the mid morningers can have a shout, before the second group.

lots of clubs need the society income, but they still need to accommodate their existing members

We had this with our ladies club championship last year. They had 2 substantial blocks of tee times set aside so as they could play their 36 hole comp and guess how many entered......

8, that was it, 8. And why so few, because alot of the ladies are of advancing years so felt that they could not handle 36 holes in a day. Even better was the fact that the ladies set their competition format so actually chose a format that a large majority felt that the could not handle. You have to laugh.

Our ladies always have a block tee booking at the end of our booked times for weekend comps. It is usually an hour and sadly there are usually only three or four groups in that time at most. It seems a lot of the lady memebrs prefer the events they hold on a Tuesday (ladies day) where they can play without the pressure of too many men around

They should leave a gap between block bookings

They have this at garesfield. There are 2 (white) slots every hour for members who turn up on the day. more often than not you can get a tee within an hour.

Failing that if there is a comp but no-one has booked the (yellow) slot, you can stick your name in 15 mins before that time.

If any group block books, and doesn't pretty much fill it, then they get the priveledge withdrawn. Our GM wants to maximise course usage. Fair enough. Groups of less than 12 aren't allowed to block book at all.
