First post but have I just made a big mistake?

Now one of the main reasons im happy I got these clubs as I feel it will show my weaknesses and allow me to work on them how ever surely if you always play cavity backs that are most forgiving then are you truely finding out how good of a player you could be? or is your equipment hiding the fact that everytime you hit the ball your not getting correct connection, or vice versa are you perhaps playing brilliant shots but because of the forgiveness is most clubs they are coming out straight so again not realising true potential of the extra shots you may be able to play?

I guess this is the age-old question regarding which clubs to play with. f.w.i.w. I think you'll be fine with your clubs. I have played with clubs at both end of the spectrum. Most of my clubs have been middle-standard. I don't personally subscribe to the idea using clubs that don't hide weaknesses has any impact at all on your learning. You'll just hit a lot more unsatisfactory shots and be further off target than you could be.
In my professional life, as well as golf, the choice of equipment only affects learning outcomes once you reach a very proficient standard.
I have to add, and this isn't a dig at you in any way; almost everyone uses forgiving and high MOI drivers and many of us use high MOI putters. I just don't understand why everyone wants to constantly push the boundaries with their choice of irons. I say use the easiest irons you can bear to live with and look at () and once you get to the point that nearly every shot is spot on, then consider a players iron.
I don't want to go back to my MP-11 irons, it simply isn't worth looking for the 1 or 2 in 100 shot at the cost of the other 98 or 99.
The irons you have on order are hardly any different in forgiveness to my cavity Mizuno set.....you'll be fine.

Dont worry I wasnt taking it personally im just trying to get some ideas around what different equipment will offer. I always like having nice equipment and they looked nice, its the same in cricket as well I like having the nicest things. Kinda gives me confidence I suppose?

I am willing to work on whats needed as well not just turn up and expect miracles I understand that this could be a turning point or I could be doing a u-turn and go backwards.

I have recently bought a set of Titleist MB's and listening to people you would have thought I was mad. Yes they can be harder to hit I just find it makes me focus a little more and as someone said earlier it wasn't that long ago that you had no choice of clubs. Enjoy them I know I enjoy mine.

I enjoyed my Macgregors, all the way until I realised I could reduce my handicap by getting rid of them. When you end up not pulling the 4i, because it is unreliable, and either choking down a 5W, or hitting the crap out of a 6i, it is time to change sticks. You might think they will make you a better golfer, and given time, they might, but how long do you want to wait?

I hope you do well with them, but it is a gamble.

yeah its a big gamble but as they say you dont win the raffle if you dont buy a ticket so might as well try them. Im going to use the whole 90 day return policy I wont make a judgement after a round or 2.

Theres thousends of choices for bits of equipment and 1 thing will never be good for everyone. I am glad that a lot of people have commented and given mixed reviews because I know these aint going to make me Tiger Woods but also there is hope that it wont put me backwards in my game.

Personally I'd never buy without trying first. I like to try new gear anyway (shiny stick syndrome) and have been known to change my clubs frequently. I've learned from past (and expensive) mistakes. I'm happy with my set up now even if I've a hankering for a set of Pings or R9 TP's but the doctor says the medication will change that

yeah trying them out would of been handy but then if you try them out what would you do hit some on the range maybe off a tee. i mean how many shots do you get to try out of the rough etc. I think im not too worried as what they will be like before I buy as with my cricket bats you dont get to hit a ball with it before you purchase so always take a bit of a gamble with that.
