Morning all,

After taking the advice given to me on this board i went and booked my first lesson for tonight at 7:30.

What should i expect? Will i start to see a massive difference straight away? Also how many lessons should i be looking to have before im hitting the ball consistently?

Don't expect miracles - I suspect the first thing your pro will look at is your grip, set up and a few swings. If he is like mine he will give you one thing or at the most two to concentrate on.

You will probably get worse before you get better and any changes will feel strange. How many and how often you have them is for you to decide with advice from your coach - but remember it is an income for him.

This is very, very important to remember.

If he/she changes anything and it feels weird and you can't hit anything, persevere as it *will* pay off.

Hi.. I have just started playing golf (around 6 weeks ago).
I have taken 2 lessons so far and I have to say they have been well worth it.
The difference in accuracy and distance has been amazing.
Don't misunderstand me, I am still rubbish, but the lesson's have been well worth while and have given me confidence and hope that I can get better.

My pro started with, the stance, the grip and speed of back swing and follow through. All these things are vitally important and make a wealth of difference.

Hope you enjoy your lesson.

You'll probably find an instant improvement in striking when things click but a loss of consistency, particularly when the pro goes away. It's important to stick with whatever he tells you and hit the range a few times until your comfortable enough to go out and play with the new set up/swing advice. Then be ready to play some golf from the sublime to the ridiculous and certainly dont expect to shoot a good score, just go out and enjoy it and realise that you're trying to get all the muscles in your body to do something different to how they've programmed. Once the new swing gets programmed (and it'll take a while!), you wont have to think about what your doing too much and then you'll be back to a good level of consistency but with a much better swing. If you start hitting worse than ever dont be surprised and dont give up and just say "I was better off with my old swing", cos chances are you're not. If you do that you'll never progress beyond where you are now, as someone who is still struggling with a complete re-working of my swing I can only say its very frustrating to take the step back in scores but when it works you know in your heart its better than anything you could have done with the old swing you had, so you have to stick with it. Let us know how you get on!

Had my first lesson and he completely changed my stance, Curls you was right, i do seem to connect better when i connect! he has already sorted out my problem with pulling my iron shots to the left. I just have to stick with it now and practice!
