Play my first inter club match yesterday. Was a singles match-play off scratch & off the back sticks, so a pretty tough introduction, especially as my game wasn't in best shape going in.

First thing, I was really pleased with how I played and secondly I absolutely loved it.

Was the first time I have played competitively with no handicap and was totally different to a medal or even stableford comp.

I played the front 9 in +2 but was only 1 up. He birdied the 10th to draw level and then we halved to the 14. I had a one poor hole on 15 and lost to a par. He then birdied 16th so I was 2 down with 2 to play. I hit a great putt for birdie on 17th and it lipped out and that was it game over.

Was disappointed to loss and more so as we lost the team match 4-5.

It mightn't be everyone's cup of tea but I highly recommend trying it if you can.

Used to like these sort of matches. PLayed in loads in years gone by. Now I'm only a 5-day member there wont be much chance to play in any until I join the ranks of the Seniors in a few years time. I'm looking to be a single figure Senior!

Unlucky on your match TRS. Better luck next time but at least you enjoyed it.

Sounds unlucky but glad you enjoyed the experience.

I played my 1st of these a few weeks ago. I was pretty nervous going in and started like I'd never played golf before, I was 9 over after 7 holes but birdied the 8th and played the back 9 in 3 over. We won 3&1 but the overall match was drawn 3-3.

Like you I really enjoyed it and wish I'd got involved with these a lot earlier. I've always put it off as I didn't trust my game but would encourage anyone not sure whether to get involved to do so.
