Following on from the thread on Out of Bounds about magazines in general, I got thinking about the first golf magazine I could remember reading.

I think it was the 1971 Open edition of Golf Illustrated. It was the 100th Open and I remember they had a feature on past champions and a big section on all the stands in the tented village and I seem to recall a very rudimentary plan of Birkdale.

How about other forummers. What's the first golf magazine you remember reading or buying and what articles do you remember?

I recall a GM from about 79 with Ken Brown on the front. It might just be me but in those days there seemed to be alot more words and less pictures in golf mags.
