I have my first ever foursomes matchplay tomorrow so just wondering if anyone has any tips that may help at all????

Don't tap in when you leave it a little short, its your partners shot, if playing a provisional, the other player plays it not the one who played the original shot, ditto if you need to play 3 off the tee. You drive on alternate holes regardless of who holed out on the last.

that's just a few things to remember of the top of my head.

Playing Greensomes tomorrow myself which is almost the same format as you may know.

I was told once that you shouldn't apologise for playing a bad shot or putting your PP in trouble. Not sure if that's standard etiquette or not but it kind of makes sense. It's not like you mean any of it, that's golf.

No "sorrys" allowed!

Work out how much input you and your partner want/need from each other and play as a team. Encourage, encourage and encourage some more :-)

Look at the scorecard and try to work out the majority of the holes on which each partner would be most comfortable on the tee. That might just put you in the best positions for the second shots.

Figure out who is the better/longer driver and have them take whichever side the majority of the longest/tightest holes are on. At our course the longer player should definitely take the odds and its not even close, might be similar at yours. Ironically it gives the shorter player (me) the tee on the par 5s but they are not reachable even with my partner knocking one out the 270-280 so it makes little difference

With our course it's a case of, who ever tee's off first plays a lot more lay up shots, while the person to tee off second plays more approach shots.
It may be worth while to have a think about how your course sets up for each player and play to there stengths.
