First ever eagle two!

Playing today 2nd hole of my home track. 3W of the tee but aligned to far right, expected a fade and hit a draw. Ended up behind some trees around 130yards from the center of the green. Pin not visable so I walkup took note of some landmarks and back to my ball. Lined up and hit my PW, clipped a few leaves but went striaght on line.

Followed it up and nowhere to be seen. Looked around for 10 mintues as I was so annoyed. How could I lose a ball travelling straight into a safe area? Decided to just check the hole after everywhere else and there it was. My logo staring back at me with a smile. Typically I was on my own because the person I was playing with was running late and told me to meet him at the 5th.
 
My first eagle was the 8th hole at my old club a short par 4 down hill. Decided to take my 3 wood as my driver was playing up, hit my driver straight down the centre and carried the green, with shot pitching about 6 foot from the pin, knock the put in for 2.

It's a wonderful feeling though I was dancing around like a mad man waving my hand in the air. I know mine was more fluke than skill but basically it is the poor relation of the hole in one. I had come close the other day having hit a 5i approach to within 2 feet of the hole and the end position could only have been reached by going past the edge of the hole.

Im playing in a club comp tomorrow and feel I'm playing more solidly than I ever have. Partly thanks to practice and partly thanks to a couple of tips I picked up at the weekend from Chris, Brendy and Steve and partly thanks to a magic word I discovered on the 16th at Ballyliffin.
 
My first eagle was a little more straight forward. Driver up the middle and a 3 wood from about 170 up the steep hill. Got up to the green and hunted as you did. Quick check as you do and sure enough Dunlop 65 no.3
It was in 1970 though :mad:

And before any smart alec asks.........yes, they were wooden woods :)
 
It's a great feeling when you get an Eagle - I've had a few in my time.
At my last club I'd Eagled 4 of the par 4's, 2 of the par 5's and one of the par 3's.
I've Eagled 3 of the par 5's at APGC and one par 4 with a slam-dunk from 85 yards!!

Quality feeling.

Keep that driver away for a little bit longer ;)

Good shooting tex there is a real golfer just desperate to be let out, as the Sunday morning showed you have the game.
 
well done!! its such an amazing feeling! I've just had the one - short par 4 - drive just short of the green and then texas wedged it with the putter for a 30 foot putt and it dropped!

I did the same waving arms stuff - luckily there were two others playing with me to see it! ;)
 
Nice work fella, note for next time and something I always do....check the hole first, kind of makes it look like you meant it then!

We have a couple of short par 4's on our course which are driveable if you get the wind behind you. Had eagle 2 putts on both but not made them. Easy birdie though which I'll take every day of the week!

The only Eagle I have ever had was on the 11th at Chartham Park, 3rd shot holed from about 40 yards, with a playing partner and a couple of spectators on the 12th tee who gave me a round of applause. Always nice when you hole out from distance with people watching.
 
My second eagle was on a par 4. About 250 yards to a green over a dogleg, hole is about 320. Hit my driver to 8 feet and rolled in the putt.

Also had one drop on a short par 4, laid up as I did not want to go for the green, holed the 70 yard pitch :D

I did miss out on an eagle by an inch at Sudbrook Moor on my first round, hit a hybrid to the back of the par 4 4th over the massive bunker. Ended up at the back of the green (which is massive too). Putted over two massive humps caught the slope and the damn thing stopped 1 inch shy of the cup!

All my other eagles have been as conventional as HickoryShafts first eagle, good drive, second the middle of a par 5 green and a holes putt.

Seriously...well done and as Chris has said already keep that driver in the bag, much easier to hole second shots from the fairway than 30 yards into the rough.

Well done mate, always a good feeling when you hole a full shot.

I have had quite a few over the years but the one I remember the most was one that came at the end of a run of 4 holes that I will always remember:
Birdie 2 (8th hole)
Bogey 6
Birdie 2
Eagle 2.
Shot 66 that day in a club comp.
 
Get in there Bob! Like Imurg, Ive had a fair few now and you still get a great buzz, especially if it is a card saver! :D

Everyone should play the a tough links course (likes of Ballyliffin) each year as it really teaches you how accuracy off the tee is king and tightens your driving.

I've had one - regular 6 iron to our 2nd and never looked anything else but destined for the hole! The amazing thing was that HID then proceeded to do the same on the 4th - not sure what the odds of that happening are but, much like our holes in one, I got mine first :cheers:
