Hi everyone, some of you may remember my post a few days ago about playing in comps and i said i may give 9 hole club night ago to ease me in....well im in!

Played my first club night this evening. Was REALLY nervous on the first tee but it was all a worry about nothing, had a really enjoyable 9 holes, with some great company and now i can't wait for next week.

We went out as fourballs, and i was with a 5 handicapper, an 18 (both around my age) and a boy of about 10. As i have no handicap yet i was given 23 on the first tee(par 3)..and i was the only person to hit the green, and the only one to make par! The 5 handicapper joked that he wished he hadn't give me 23!

The 2nd hole is a long VERY downhill par 5 which is straight for about 220 then very steep down to the green. I stepped up with the honours on the tee, and bombed it, easily clearing the brow, splitting the fairway at which point the 5 handicapper said he REALLY wished he hadn't give me 23! I ended up scoring 11 points over 9 holes and that was with 2 "blobbed holes"

May not be superb stats but i was absolutely ecstatic, as it was my first competition play ever, was with 2 golfers a lot better than myself..and i was incredibly nervous to start off!

Roll on my next competition :D

I bet the 5 H didnt mention you were 7 over at the end! Dont ever apologise for having a good game, we all have good/bad holes. The pros put it in the trees and the more Im playing I think the mental side is a massive issue. Its easy to be put off when you are trying to get your handicap down with 'bandit comment'.

Well done rayzer. Everyone should realise that it's great to get stuck in, then they'll wonder why they ever left it so long.
