First comp yesterday and as the subject says point one back as I didn't make it past the 4th hole.

Having the sweats, shivers and a cough that sounds like a Wookie's mating call since Thursday, I woke up yesterday feeling a lot better, got the gear on, packed the car, got to the club and booked in. The first, up hill stroke index 2, hit out right, played out, hit a tree and the ball went back further than where I hit it, third topped left, fourth topped wedge, fifth got me onto the green, 6th putt missed the hole ran by 18 inches, called a double hit on the putt for an 8.

Thought I'd pull myself together, played a decent drive off the second, on the green for two, left the putt for birdie 6 inches short, lined up the par putt and one of the playing partners says "this is for par isn't Dave", I should've stepped back, but chose not to reply and pushed the putt. I could've decked him on the green.

Third, par three, duffed tee shot, chip on and two putt.

Fourth hit a low running to the right, it was up hill, so trying hard not to cough, which was difficult as I was panting so much, duffed the 2nd and 3rd before putting the 4th into the quarry. At that point I'd had enough, I couldn't talk with coughing, I was holding back being sick, so I handed Stu's card over and left Paul and Stu to carry on and I came home.

On the way home, so knob obviously thought a give way sign didn't matter to him as he was merging into traffic from the my left, I could've pulled across to let in him, but feeling crap and in no mood for knobs, I carried on, he pulled in behind me, and flashed, with having the window down I gave him a two finger salute, then as he came past he got a 5 knuckle shuffle, I'm not one for road rage, life's too sort, but as I drove past him I yelled out the window, "Learn the chuffing highway code", he must have heard as I got a load of beeps from him.

Not entirely his fault, just me feeling crap, really wanting to play golf as it was a beautiful day, he just got both barrels.

I got home, unpacked the car, and just the event of me walking up the stairs set my coughing of again, well you an guess the outcome and to top it all off this morning I think I must have pulled something in my lower right abdomen groin area as I can really feeling it pulling if I stretch.

If you read this far you must be extremely bored, I just needed to get it off my chest.

Think you have the same cough/cold that I picked up Wednesday! Just getting over it now, so not a disaster, but not the sort of thing that is good for Golf or Driving!

Is illness a good enough excuse for coming off and NOT getting in the 0.1 back..?
Sure I've heard similar on here....might be worth following up

I played with having been laid up for the last 3 days with it. I shouldn't have done so but you always feel that it'll be ok, well, I felt absolute crap but did complete the round and when HDID gets itself sorted I shall be 12.4

MY nose hasn't come away yet, so I've still got that to look forward to, but it's the bleeding cough, it's at the point now where it feels like I've taken a round above body blows from Mayweather, I'm tensing up when I feel a cough coming on to try and supress it but that is making it worse.

Did you pick up this cold by standing topless on the terraces at St James Park in -5 degrees? :D

I stopped paying good money to watch those clowns 30yrs ago. My last game was when Newcastle beat Leicester 7-1, the season after it was all seating and that was me done. I watch them more out of masochistic curiosity than as a fan or supporter.

Keeping fingers crossed the Boro can make it up.
