First ace in 46 years

Delighted for you, Brilliant!

Me? Yet to have one although have had a few to within an inch or less - one in particular that stopped on the lip when another 1/8th roll would've seen an ace.

But am I miffed and just a little bitter?

Yes, I'm afraid that I am rather :D

Holed in one at our first today. Aced the same hole last time in1970 on the day my, now, wife & I got engaged. The date is engraved on the inside of my signet ring 25th July 1970. Same as last time, the pin was on the front & the hole wasn't visible from the tee so I didn't have the pleasure of seeing it go in. Could be the last one I ever have. The three people I was playing with, all long time golfers, have had 7, 5 & no holes in one respectively. No logic in it!

That driver is paying for itself already.:whoo: Chuffed to bits for you but at the same time gutted. Tashyboy and the tippex warriors are bringing up four bottles of plonk for the "nearest the pins" and it looks like one is already in the boot of your car.
hope you celebration was worthy. Have you kept the ball to go with your balata from the first HI1.

Shanked it out of bounds on 10.

Well done,:whoo:

Still waiting myself, 40 years and counting ..... have witnessed two in the last 12 months so maybe it's getting closer to my turn :)

Well done MIB - and @IanG I fear statistics. I had my first last year having played this blessed game for 40+ yrs. But I was by myself playing a few evening holes - with not a sole witnessing it other than the good Lord above. And some say that it doesn't count...Ah well. That might be mine.

Well done that man!

a few near misses for me, and I've not even seen one :( I thought I was on for one yesterday, the thing never left the pin, all over it! Turned out 5' short...

I've had 4, but I have to be honest that 3 of them were about as rubbish as it gets.

The 2nd one was a poor shot that landed in the rough on a slope 10yards off the green, got a bounce and made its way down the hill onto the hole.
The 3rd one was a 90 yarder on a desert course in the Middle East, and whilst the 4th was a good shot, it was in bucketing rain during a practice round for a tournament and I was the only person on the course so had nobody to share it with.

The first was a good shot, playing with other people, so whilst 4 is the official number, only 1 is worth anything to me.

I have had 6 in the last two years

My first was scabby - hit a tree and flew into the pin and into the hole

Then had two on the same hole in a month but couldn't see them going in

The other three are the ones im chuffed about

One was in a club match against Ellesborough - first HIO in a club for our club

Next was in the Swindle on the 3rd on the Dukes saw it land just before the pin and straight in the hole

And my most recent was in our invitational - on our signature hole landed just behind the pin and span back in - really enjoyed that one

That's impressive considering people can go their entire lives without one. One of the guys in my club plays off 1, is in his mid 40s, has been playing since he was a kid & has never had one.

I think McIlroy only had his first last year and no doubt some have had none

Yet Jimeneiz had three alone last year :D

Congrats Bill, hopefully you can repeat it for me on Friday😃
