Title says it all really.

I'm not a member anywhere yet. Partly because of money (I don't play that much in winter) and because i'm not sure I am good enough yet to get the proper value out of it (playing in comps etc)

When I first took up the game last year I played at least once a week with a friend of mine but his interest has seemingly dropped off. I play once every 3 months with my brother and maybe once a month with a work colleague of mine.

But a lot of the time I find myself in the situation I'm in today. Really wanting to go and play somewhere but having no playing partner.

I could book a round somewhere on my own but when courses are busy i always seem to spend more time getting in peoples way than actually playing. Also feel like I am kind of past playing by myself. Found it useful when I first started playing but now I find I am nowhere near as focussed without someone watching!

I will just nip to the range and get some practice in but I really would rather be playing!

Anyone else in this situation?

:thup:why not join a society that is near to you,you will meet new friends and get to play in comps. or join a local muni as a member, they are inexpensive and you only need to pay for the games you enter and will have a social aspect as well.

No real alternative to joining a club or society if you don't have mates who want to play regualarly. I joined my club last August and have quickly got into the weekly roll-ups where, apart from enjoying the craic, I have gained good advice and encouragement...even though they wind me up by insisting that our weekly Stableford is played on 3/4 handicaps. I have enough difficulty with 28, 21 is just something I dream of being able to play to.

Thanks for the replies. I've always thought a society would suit me but I've no idea how to go about finding one?

I just trawl the arrange a game section on here, have 3 rounds over the next two weekends sorted!

Try PMing local people you see on the forum, should get you a few games.
