Had the day off to get some last minute practice in. Tough conditions with a strong breeze. Played the front nine to start with and then spent an hour chipping putting. Golf on the course worryingly poor. Had a break, played another front nine coming up to the back of the ladies medal (last group teed off two hours before I went out and I caught them by the 6th).

Back in for some lunch and a ponder as the second nine still not great. Decided to play 18 and went back out. Was much better and Hawkeye joined me on the back nine. I was going ok and then I lost my timing off the on the last few holes. There are 24 going to the Forest of Arden and on current form I should be good for 25th place. Still on the plus side, my gear is packed, HID is cleaning my clubs as I type and I'm ready for the off. Safe journey to my fellow competitiors and hopefully I'll be able to pick up a swing in a motorway services on the way up

No real chance for preparation for me. Got back from holiday last Wednesday, off to Goswick Thursday morning, back Saturday night, spent Sunday looking at work emails, back in the office Monday and still catching up. Off to work tomorrow then will get to head off after that so hopefully I will wake up on Thursday morning with some semblance of a swing.

At the moment my golf gear is still on the radiators and I am trying to find a suitcase I can use as I have not had 5 minutes to unpack from holiday or Goswick.

Still excited though. Hopefully will be in the bar by about 8 tomorrow for those who are going, may still be in my work clothes but I will be in the bar.

I did 10 minutes of short range chipping in the back garden this evening, amongst the leaves so I'll be ready for autumn in the woods,
Cleaned the clubs (which shows I'm taking this seriously!) and hope to have a bit of spare time on the range and in the practice bunker tomorrow before the off.

Looking forward to meeting up tomorrow evening. First objective will be to get a course planner so I've got some idea of what we'll be facing.

There's a reason his nickname is 'The Pro' down the club :p

From what I've seen of your game the last few weeks Homer your game isn't in too bad shape. It might not be where you want it to be but how many of us are actually totally happy with our game - I know I'm not, there's always something to improve.

There's no reason you can't go there and win, you qualified after all, won a comp at the club not so long ago and a buffer on Sunday. There was nothing bad from what I saw last night either.

Just go out there and enjoy it, you never know what might happen. Good luck

Homer, if you're remotley like me you will know you can feel very different from day to day on the course, an extreme example being i hit my pb on monday (84) then played yesterday and scabbed it round for somehow a 93(felt like 105). My theory is you have got your bad shots and feel out and you'll have a better round at the Forest mate and atleast your going in with the mindset of not expecting a great round...that for me is the best attitude! ;)

Good luck to all and safe travel, im well jealous! :)
