Fatigue

I played in a 36 hole comp last year event last year and on approach to what was the 19th green the 2 i was playing with (juniors n all) said they felt they would not score well as they where tired.

I played 36 around St George's Hill early last year and walked down the 36th fairway like a cross between Douglas Bader and C3PO

Played 36 holes at Dundonald last year and when I finished I reckon if they had let me I would have went out again.
You cant beat the buzz of playing a great course, in perfect conditions.

Smiffy,
Playing there on Wednesday. I normally carry everywhere. Are you suggesting this is not a wise move? :o :D

i never really got tired until my achilles injury playing football....It seems latley that i get tired after around 15 holes it seems to be the same time every weekend....
I used to be very fit playing ball but iv put on couple of pounds since i retired last year and the fitness is down a little......

Also im using the FJ SynR G shoes and i think that they maybe a little heavy for walking our course in....
Maybe my leg still hasnt got the full strength back yet....

Some interesting responses so far.

IMO playing a lot of golf in a short space of time will always make you tired but i cant see it making you want to miss a comp because as amatuers i thik we should play as much competitive golf as possible as it is the best way for us to improve.

I played 5 days on the trot in Spain two years ago, and on the last day I couldn't seem to get motivated. Don't know if I was golfed out or whether the late nights and beer were playing a part in that.

Happily play 36 holes in a day, rarely get the opportunity to do that two days running though.

Also played 90 holes in a day in 2007 for charity - the buzz kept me going, and losing 2 and 1 after being 13 down with 23 to play kept the interest and focus. Don't think I could have played the following day though. Birdied the 88th hole too!

Well Screwback you have a few outings to test how you shape up!

4 rounds in 3 days Castle Stuart weekend,3 rounds in 3 days Machrahanish weekend,4 rounds in 2 days the week after that although you may have a caddie after 36 of those holes :D

Played 11 times in 7 days last June in Ireland with about 20 hours sleep for the week ,had a season ticket for Kellys Nite club :)never touched a club or a drink for 3 days when i came back was totally humped :o.
The good thing is in 75 days time i'm doing it again, happy days. :)

Not a problem.

Mind i would think it would be the equivalent of 54 holes of an evening with the chance of 72 depending on which of our travelling tour pros you decide to go for a round with....86 days and counting :D ;)

I must admit as much as I love my golf I do enjoy a week off every now and again, I seem to come back fresher the following week.

I could play everyday no problem. I do think you can become mentally tired. Well I can anyway. Last year I played so much golf in a short space of time I burnt out. I think I was too concentrated on scoring well though, now I would just enjoy being out!

Generally if I'm playing I'll have a beer or 12 and I seem to be able to make it through 3 or 4 days straight. If I could stop drinking after golf then pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem but look forward to working after 3 days so I can get back to a usual routine.

I never go up there with the intention of having a load of beers it just happens.

I think people would get even more annoyed with me if I became a born again do gooder preaching healthy living though, plus the few times I have stopped drinking for prolonged periods it was pretty boring. Did get some great practise time in though and saved a bundle.

Still young enough to carry on through it just about but feeling it every step of the way!!

what you DONT wanna do(as the majority do,lol) is fill yourself full of mars bars etc! now, they r great for 1 hole as you get the energy from the sugar, but after 20 mins or so you get the carb crash, which messes up your concentration!
so to sum up......slow burning complex carbs.....lol!

You reckon a Snickers or Twix is the answer then?
