Nick Price is set to forego a place in this years Open and intends to give up his place to a young, up and comming player instead.

Th last Open champion at Turnberry said, "I cant win so I'd rather give my place to someone who can or has a chance to compete and gain experience."

This from a man who is still competing for a living on the Seniors tour, not sitting a TV studio taking an easy buck.

I think if they get like Sarazen etc in the Masters and can't get round then they should step aside but if they are fit enough and have the desire to get and play they should be allowed to do so. Who before last years Open would have said Norman shouldn't have been there?

Why shouldn't he?
He will have as much chance as some of the regional qualifiers from around the world.
The Opens qualifying system makes it what it is, the best Major by far.

At the end of the day Faldo has qualified for the Open. Simples
If Price doesn't want to play that's up to him.
If you qualified but felt you couldn't win it, would you elect to not play?

As much as he is hated/loved, most agree he is @@@@, but at the same time he has earned his right to play.... Look at Sandy Lyle who couldnt seem to hit a ball for years, then performed exceptionally well at this years Masters ( only playing because he won it previously) Faldo has the right to play.....let him..

There are many people, me included, who enjoy watching Faldo and other past champions playing in The Open. The highlight for me last year, was the perfomance of Greg Norman. I also look forward to seeing Tom Watson this year, if the TV editors condescend to show him.
