fake email

I know they get my email address from all the ebay purchases.

I have noticed that ebay now have a new email system whereby all users are now allocated an ebay email address so the seller only sees that.

Never really worries me that much as it is very easy to delete most of them without reading them and I use web based email for most sites, forwarding the ones I want keep to another email address so I can download via outlook.

We had everyone in our company do a detailed training course on cyber security and spam e-mails. Really in-depth and very good.

The IT department decided the following week to create a spam e-mail with a link to all employees. 42% of them clicked the link. it took them to an external site reminding them of their obligations towards security.
And copied their two line managers …

Even I saw through that one but a few of my team didn't.

Likewise we have to do a mandatory detailed cyber security training course every year. Our security department regularly sends out emails testing our awareness. Some are strongly company branded and so not always that easy to spot - but with due diligence you can. We are encouraged to 'Report as Spam' any such emails rather than just delete them as that helps cyber security blocking.

Unfortunately such is the complexity and ever-changing structure of my company (a global corporate) I get emails that are real internal company updates or invitations - but if I don't recognise any names or the business or organisation unit I report the Email. Also occasionally I'll get what looks to be a valid internal company email but that has a spelling error - maybe in the Subject Line - and these too I reject and report.

For Outlook, click on the settings icon on the top right of your mailbox (cog wheel), select "View all Outlook settings" at the bottom of the pop up, select Junk Email from the next popup. You can add block or safe senders or domains

You can just click on a mail in your junk folder or inbox and select one of the options at the top

I don't generally use Gmail, but it has some similar settings

Thanks

Re Outlook. There is no cogwheel. It seems I only have Outlook 7.

But I have used the tip re Gmail as everything comes to my Outlook on the PC via Gmail

Been a while since I've seen Outlook 2007, I think you just have to right click on the mail in the inbox and then you can specify junk or safe sender etc.

Also I think you can select Actions, then junk email, then junk settings and go from there.

'Actions' seems to be the place. Thanks
