Fabrice Muamba

these guys push their bodies to the total limit, sad news for any person but he's still a young boy. hope he pulls through this, horrific images and respect to the staff at the ground.

Just got in and saw this on Match of the Day and hoping he pulls through.

He is certainly in the best place where he will get the Gold Star treatment.

Fingers crossed for Fabrice and his family.

Apparently some numpty has been arrested for making racist comments about him on Twitter. Seriously, the guy is in a serious condition fighting for his life and yet some keyboard clown sees fit to abuse him? Sickening.

Hope he pulls through. He and his family have suffered enough before this. Seems like a nice guy. The world doesn't have enough nice people. Helps that he is ex arsenal though. I wish him all the best.

Heard something interesting today and given similar things have happened (Marc Vivian Foe etc) makes perfect sense to me. In Italy, it is compulsory for every professional sportsperson (not just footballers) to go for a cardiac check up every year. If they pass they get a certificate to compete (bit like the F1 licence). If the test reveals an illness or defect the licence is revoked pending medical intervention and an all clear.

Surely something similar could be set up, if not for every sport then for football. It seems such a simple idea and must surely detect or help to prevent this sort of thing happening to another young player and the grief it causes their family

It is already in place. Gareth Southgate spoke about it before the Liverpool v Stoke game. He said that Muamba was part of the England youth set up and that every player had to have a cardiac check up. He said that yesterday's events were even more concerning in light of this.

Didn't see the footie so didn't know that. Makes it even more of a tragedy that he can be regularly checked and this can still ocur

As I understand it... Its not possible to detect all 'faults' or potential 'faults'...

Positive thoughts for the young lad and his family...

Believe he is a decent 'sort' who has recently become a dad...
