Eyemouth GC

anyone played it? Got a groupon deal for this weekend, website looks lovely, but they can be deceptive.
Its my home course! (so im biased)
Really underrated in my opinion, a good test of golf. Had a poor season last year with the greens but there on the turn now, like most courses its now in need of rain!!
Give me a shout if you need any extra guests signed on.

Played a match there last year and really enjoyed it. There are plenty of unusual holes to keep you on your toes including the par 3 6th across and over an open cliff, the short par 4 270ish all up a steep hill or the 600yrd plus par 5 which is largely downhill. I thought the layout worked well and every hole was different with differing challenges. The back 9 can be quite hard going as the first few holes are played up and down this large hill but that for me made it interesting. I'm going back this year with a similar deal to enjoy the course in a more relaxed way as opposed to the matchplay situation, and try the greens properly as they had just been hollow tined when I played.

You won't be disappointed with the course and the clubhouse which as a building isn't much, offers a fantastic panoramic view of the course and out to sea for that well deserved drink afterwards. Enjoy

Edit: Just spotted my opponent on the day has posted above, i won't mention the score though;)

The guy in the pro shop was sound as a pound, two on the groupon deal, two for £35, so just over £8 each, sounds like a bargain.Looking forward to trying somewhere new, I've heard about the mythical 6th hole, so I'm keen to give it a go...

"Club Champ Ditched" shock story line

Cheers for the offer, really enjoyed the course and as i said got a 4 ball deal to play before June, but could see myself playing there are few times this year so U'll probably get a call one day. Likewise if you fancy a game at Alnwick just let me know

Great course - even if the rest of scotland has no breeze, it will be windy! specially over the cliff on the 6th. its a long course, my feet are usually sore afterwards. the 12th? par 3 is a tricky one to get the ball to stick on the green. Watch out for the ducks on the 3rd par 3.

pro shop is great

food excellent

Will be playing it next saturday - canny wait! ;)

You aint wrong about it being a long walk Heidi, Trolley a must unless your fit (and ripped) like me :p
Pro shop is very good, you'll struggle to find better customer service/stock anywhere. Michael Hackett the Pro opened his second shop over at Dodgers place The Hirsel last year run by his former assistant Daniel which is also going from strength to Strength....worth a visit too if your in the area -http://www.hirselgc.co.uk/
The food at Eyemouth is very good particulary if you like Seafood most of which is bought from the local fishmonger fresh.

Full Membership £372 - its an absolute steal at that. Played with chaps from Edinburgh & Northern Ireland the other week in the Winter Open, they thought I was pulling their plonker when I told them the subs.

Played Eyemouth a few times, good track and always been in good nick when ive played it.

Can be a long walk, especially if you not playing too well and the wind is blowing.

The Par 3, 6th hole over the cliff is a great hole and the view from the clubhouse is fantastic, especially when you are sitting with a pint of Belhaven Best:thup:

Naybrains- will give you a shout when im over this year and we will get a game, we have friends in the Borders area who we stay with for a week or so in the summer. Will be playing The Hirsel and Goswick as well during our stay.

Happy days, usually get sorted out ok(dodger being one decent chap) but you can never know too many people when it comes to getting signed on to golf courses:thup:

Played yesterday in glorious sunshine, a wee wind but nothing too deadly.

I loved it, if it was slightly closer to Edina I'd join tomorrow. Some really nice holes, the par 3's & 5's in particular were superb. The only hole I thought was dodgy was the 11th, that's some feckin hill!Greens were true ( a wee bit sandy), turf was lovely and springy and generally it was terrific.
My new favourite value for money course.

Sounds good.

I plan to play it next month, just missed out an a yamolo deal on it, but still seems like value for money!

11th hole is a problem  Yeah its a fair old hill, but when you get there the green has too much slope on it. Couple of years after the course was built the front portion of the green sunk/slid which spoilt the hole completely. Hopefully if us members keep moaning about it we will get a new green built, I know there's drawings been done for a new green further towards the cliff.

Aye, I drove just past the fairway bunker on the right, hit a 50deg over the back of the green...the pin was at the back so I had no chance of getting close...I was lucky to stay on the green at all...I had visions of the ball rolling back down the fairway!
As I said, I loved it and will be back.
