'Ey guys.

I've been snooping around a bit and read stuff quite often. I'm a very big golfing fan but the money gets in the way a bit and also I can't drive yet so it's a bit frustrating getting to courses. :(

Anyway, first of all just curious if you can point out any real flaws in my swing? The video is rubbish because I filmed it on my 4S and it rotated the wrong way and I had to do all sorts of editing to get it right. Stupid thing.

Anyway, rough overview of my golf so far. Played around 4 different courses in and around Sheffield. I've had no golf lessons and I've probably played around 20 rounds in total. Currently using a Ben Sayers M6 clubs that I bought a few years ago for £100. Again money is an issue for new clubs. I don't have an official handicap but I assume that with my recent scorecards I'd probably be around the 20 mark. I think my swing can be pretty good, it's definitely improving I'm my opinion. This drive was around 250y which was surprisingly the first video I took so I didn't have to try again haha.

Glad to be part of the forum.

Welcome in mate. You from Sheffield whereabouts? just up the road from me. Anyway your swing-Not an expert Bob is the man for that but from what I can see straightaway is that you are overswinging club goes way past parallel at the top. Swing looks quite flat to me as well.

Just around the corner from Hillsborough buddy. I've had a few people tell me that I do overswing slightly. However I assume that's how I hit decentish drives of 250y baring in mind I'm only 19 and only just over 60kg. I suppose it generates power but loses accuracy? I don't know.

Anyway thanks for the reply :)

No overswinging will not generate anymore powere than going to parallel or less but it will certainly cost you accuracy. Dont get hung up on distance either finding fairways is far more important. Have a look at this vid which focus on the Driver. Dont know if you suffer from a slice at all but it looks at that as well as swing path, Grip etc Very useful and check out the guys other vids as well all are good. Know Hillsborough area but know south side of Sheffield better. What courses you played roung there? I played Abbetdale last year which was very nice indeed

I play a course called Concord Golf Club currently. It's about 1.5 mile from my home and it's cheap at just over £10 a round. It's one of the worst courses in the world though I think haha. It's improved loads in recent years but it's on a huge hill so some of the holes are just hit and hope that you can find the ball.

One of the holes is a 300y par 4 downhill and if you use a putter hard enough it will probably roll all the way down. I use a 6i and stop 20y short of the green. There's a lovely 90y par 3 over a small valley though that is great to play.

I've played Rother Valley, Concord, Tinsley and a course in Lincolnshire somewhere. I don't suffer from slices that often in all honesty but they do occur. It's usually the odd hole that I finish +6 on or something which really bugs me, I suppose consistency needs improving in that respect.
