EXPLANAR Anyone tried it?

That,s great realgolferuk, can you take it on to the golf course, i think that,s where alot of folk fall down its ok hitting ball after ball on the range, but as you well know playing in a medal under the gun thats when you find out what your swing is like. I only ever judge my game when i am playing medal golf, did you get the chance to play much medal golf last year.

Glen....glad to hear this story. Whatever the "ideal" plane there are plenty of great players who break all the rules. Jim Furyk, obviously and also Baddeley, who I've been studying using the swing vision clips on youtube. Aaron is crazily flat at the set....there is NO way he could use an explanar.....
The current trend for a one plane down and up is popular and explanar could potentially get you doing this really well.
I've been setting the club more upright to come down more upright and attack the ball more steeply. I'm also taking "some" of the interesting stuff I've read/watched about stack and tilt to see if I can stop the excessive move to the back foot which is causing me some trouble. So, I'm trying to turn without deliberately moving to the rear foot.....it's been good, I hit some peaches at the range today, especially with my short irons (these are the clubs where I don't have time on the downswing to repair the move back to the front foot.....oh, and 1/2 shot pitches!!)

I played 3 medal (every shot counts, as it were) rounds for my h'cap with my old swing. I only hit pushes, hooks and straight.
I've played 4 times with the new swing. If it hadn't been for poor putting, I'd have beaten 80 on Saturday. There's no issue on the course, I'm striking it better and hit a variety of all types of shots, which sounds a bit crap, but is actually a step in the right direction. The worst two were big slices with my fairway wood. I hit the centre cut on (4,5,6,9,10,11,13,18) 8 fairways out of 14.....something seems right to me. Shame about my lack of distance....still a big problem on the long holes (had three doubles on the big holes)

Real. its funny you should say you are lacking a bit of distance, with the practice routine i was telling you about i have never hit the ball as straight as i am hitting it now but i think i have lost a bit of distance, i have now got one swing thought when i am out on the course, on the takeaway i just tell myself to keep the clubhead outside the hands.

Dave

Glad your swing is coming together. I had a lesson yesterday and my pro wants me to do something similar to you. I was swinging way to inside and very flat. As a result I had to amke and adjustment to get any height to my swing which was causing my head to move up and a reverse pivot.

Went out today to play. I wasn't too bad on the front 9 but sadly mygame went to pot from 10 through to 17. I think I was too conscious of getting my arms more in front of my chest and thinking too much. Did manage to birdie 18 though.

Off to the range tomorrow night and then you can have a luagh at my chronic swing on Wednesday. Have to say the course, particularly the greens didn't look that great but I am hoping its due to the poor weather and heavy Easter traffic.

hi glen, i go on it about ten minutes a day.I rely on it to much(maybe a mental thing}stopped using it for about three months when i moved an lent it to my mate.My swing went to pot and my mate dropped 3 shots in 2 months.I soon got it back and got back on track.I know it cost alot and will not be everyones cup of tea but it has helped me.

Apparently they have one at the golf club that I just joined. I really should give it a go. But if you had one at home 10 minutes every night would soon in-grain some muscle memory. At £400 it's not cheap, however justifying it to the wife should be relatively easy.

' I lose on average 2 balls a round (depending what I'm using anything from 75p each to £3 each). Twice a week down the driving range £6 a session. Lessons £20 a throw. Over the year that adds upto (approx) £680!'.

What do you reckon, think it'll work?

I've tried one at one of these golf shows and there is definitely something about it but at the cost I could never justify having one at home. If my club invested in one and it was included in lessons or you could pay £xx for a session I would use it more often.

Strangely though I'm not swinging very well and playing crap golf yet I haven't lost a ball in over 3 rounds. I am what you might call "directionally challenged" at the moment so one will be a big slice and the next a huge hook.

I'm striking it well just not where I am aiming. Strangely though whenever I play well I'll normally have one bad shot and will never find the ball again. Is it just another way of the golfing gods mocking us?

The DG range at Huddersfield has 1 on show in the shop.
Will have a look later on this week as to the price.
Went in last week for an hour they do not let you take golf bags onto the range very strange who wants to pinch practice balls?

If I had the cash and space for one of these I would 100% buy ones, the ad on TV sold me when I first watched it.

So fella are we having a Poker/EXPLANAR night at yours soon then ;)
