This morning, have replaced the perfectly working ding-dong door bell with a Ring. Now the simple door bell is dependent on my wifi connection. Same with the humble chime. Equally, being seeing some cars over the last 10 days and they all seem to have gone touch screen and have a chip for wifi or spotify or car play etc.

Everything going smart... except the people who own these..

expect to change your wifi broadcast signal very soon, my 2.4ghz channel didn't like the ring when it was on channel 6.

I noticed much less issues with my smart bulbs since I switched off channel 6

I bought a smart telly and it’s anything but.
It’s a pain in the @#%£.

not always that bad.. but it does a software update once in a while. I wonder how my dad would have reacted if he had to wait for the Telly to make its mind up before showing something

Mine switches itself off after four minutes
I turn it back on and it does it again .
Turn on again and it’s fine !
It’s taking the proverbial.
Any ideas how to stop it? Must be some form of timer to be so exact.

Stop sitting on that remote.. or the Mrs set a limit to your screen time,,,

it seems to be a bit temperamental at the moment. How did you find and fix the problem?.

Download INSSIDER on your laptop, do a wifi scan to see what channels are being used in your airspace.

Then check on your router what channel you are using (INSSIDER will show this) and move the 2.4ghz channel to either 1,6 or 11. whichever is quietest. But i have found quite a few things that don't like channel 6, Ring doorbell, Echo Dot, Sonos...

i have put my router on 'Channel Optimisation'.. it is currently on auto select

Smart TVs are usually great, for about the first few months.

Smart TVs are a fad, it will pass. Much better to get a google chrome cast or an Apple TV and drive it from your phone.

Couldn't disagree with this more.

SmartTVs can already be driven by your phone.

Consumers want less hardware devices and more software functionality on what they do buy.

A fad ? Sorry but think you couldn’t be more wrong looking at some of the future tech we are see through the office

Tellys are going to get smarter and will reduce the amount of devices needed.
