you really do have to laugh at the ECB

so theyve given Stokes and Hales bans, theyve banned Stokes for the games hes already missed, theyve then split Hales ban between the games he missed and then suspended the rest, and added on some token gesture fines.

the upshot basically being theyve wasted everyones times as per usual, both players fully available for the WI tour

Didn't see that coming.:whistle::whistle:

4 quicks plus Stokes should be more than enough on the Windies decks

I expected Anderson or Broad to be given a rest and bring in Overton for example
Or even both and take Porter as well. It’s this tour that gives untested players a great chance to gain valuable experience

Andersen and Broad had plenty of rest in Sri Lanka lol, as did Woakes :)

If in charge Id have been very tempted to leave both Broad and Andersen home for the winter (esp Broad) but both have made it very clear they wanted to travel and play. Not sure bowling a few overs as 3rd or 4th choice seamer in WI (or SL) wouldve done any of the up and coming seamers any good tbh. The tipping point isnt far away, Broad for me already on the way down, Andersen cant be far behind, going to look very different when both are gone thats for sure. That said Jofra Archer will be jumping the queue at some point no doubt

Windies decks tend to offer a bit for spinners these days so i would still play 2 out of Ali, Rashid and Leach.

The big test for England is how they get on against Shannon Gabriel who has really stepped up with the ball recently. In tandem with Kemar Roach they could be a real handful.

the 4 quicks plus Stokes was a squad comment not a starting XI one

Youd think the following 10 start:

Jennings
Burns
Bairstow
Root
Stokes
Buttler
Foakes
Ali
Broad
Andersen

They then pick one more from Woakes, Curran, Leach and Rashid. Expect it will be Rashid but not certain

Hard to worry too much about the WI after how theyve gone against Bangladesh lately. If you cant deal with Roach and Gabriel then youve got problems (which no doubt our top order will have lol)

I would play Leach and play Curran instead of Broad.

I dont think the Windies will offer much with the bat but Gabriel is a decent pace bowler and will give England's brittle batting problems. Can see him licking his lips over bowling at Jennings.

Good point. The days of a seamers paradise are long gone and a bowling attack will need to have a spin option. I like the look of the squad and I fancy England to win the series easily.

yep wouldnt disagree, my side wasnt what I would pick but what I expect (always a fair disparity between the two :) )
