My Energy Supplier is not increasing prices this Winter.
They are cheaper than all the leading Suppliers.
They are reducing Electricity prices by 2% due to cheaper supply.
They have only one tariff.
They share their profits with you.
They dont have shareholders.
They have no cancellation fee.

What are your suppliers like?

Clearly not one of the "Big 6" cartel.

Be interested to hear who your supplier is, but as result of NPower hiking their charges up I changed supplier last night to Eon. Pretty much reason for changing was the fact my bills will be reduced by £45 a month! Not sure how they calculated that if i'm honest and likely to get stung next year as a result but then I'll change again.

So I'm no longer paying £85 quid a month from December, just in time to put some pennies to more shiny winter golf gear.

I tend to use the various comparison sites to locate the cheapest deal available to me... Usually they agree, which is a good sign, [I think]... This year it was First Utility and they are guaranteeing my current 'deal' to Sept 2013...

Be interesting to see what difference DaveCam's 'new' energy policy [if any] makes to overall pricing in the future...

i have used scottish power for years and no one can get close to their prices for me, i am locked to a tariff now until June 2015. I pay £108pm by DD for dual fuel for a modern 3 bed that is occupied all day every day. No complaints from me.

Prices mean nothing unless you say what your usage is... £108 means nothing to me if you're using less.

[no offence... that came across a bit harsh]

Blimey! i thought just rough house size and usage would have been enough for you J.

Here goes then:

Most recent from 25 August to 18 Nov.

Leccy - 1164KWh @ 10.899p (standing charge 85 days @ 32.15p) £154.19
Gas - 217 units = 2386KWh @ 3.572p (standing charge 85 days @ 34.010p) £114.14

Total for period £268.33, minus web and DD discount £-7.21

+ VAT £13.06 (5% VAT)

FYI the calculation for the gas charge is:

gas units used x calorific value (38.7) x volume correction (1.022640) / 3.6 = Gas used expressed in KWh

My actual use for the last 12 months is 13755KWh Gas and 5169KWh of leccy

Than enough info? ;-)

Rooter... Your just too well organised... Would've taken me a week or so to come up with those figures for my household...

Not really sure why there is so much difference in the tariffs.... When my Mum was still alive we'd search for the best deals for her and the tarriffs available in her region [not taking into account her age] were completely different to those down here... Smacked of a carve between the suppliers using my cynical head!

As I said earlier will be interesting to see how the goverments new policies address these anomalies...

Damn... i switched last week.. and now i see this. used uSwitch to move from BG to EDF..

My lekky is 12p however my standing charge is only 16p/day (so that works out about even?)
My gas is 3.64p and standing charge is 29p (again we are within a couple of quid.... I think )

thanks for posting those figs Rooter, certainly stops me from thinking I might be getting totally ripped off... and if so, at least I'm not alone!.... now I'm off to check out Sockets recommendation.

If I change Co-op says I can save £120/yr.... oooohhh £10/month,... can't be bothered. Not sure if that even takes my discount into consideration and they didn't even have my tariffs on their list.

we are with ebico as there is no monthly standing charge and the tariff is reasonable when compared to other suppliers. I have carried out comparisons using uswitch and the big suppliers rates might be slightly cheaper but then the standing charge is added on and not saving money any more.

I think it worked out even less for me, no point switching. The co-op one is good though! every energy supplier has knocked on my door and left with their tail between their legs when they realise they cant beat the deal i am on,

No probs posting it James, you were right, proper detail was needed for a comparison.

If using this calculation need to make sure that you check whether meter is read either Imperial of Metric first. One extra step for an imperial meter.

Also be extra careful of any suppliers that say can reduce costs which seems to good to be true, it will be and theyll be basing these savings on estimated costs. When comparing costs always ensure you use consumption figures to compare and not monetary values also.
