End of the Ping Wedge Row

It has taken Ping to back down though. I wonder if the tour would have had the backbone to ban the wedges if they hadn't.

They could not have done without breaching their agreement with Ping. Both parties have had to agreed to take them out of play.
 
Its the right decision but you have to wonder why it couldn't have been done weeks or even months ago

Agree Homer. Read somewhere else that Ping highlighted this issue to the USPGA last year but they did nothing about it and just went ahead with the rule changes anyway!!

MONEY !

Ping got shed loads of free advertising, and still look like the good guys.

but they had to agree to the ban before the new season starts so they can now sell lots of their new shinies.

I think Michelson did the right thing by bringing this so obviously into the public eye. It probably hurried the decision through to settle things for the pros.
