That's one for the GM Tech guys

So did you pass that query on?

That is, after all, one of your responsibilities.

Not that I'm interested in the feature. It's just that this sort of query just gets blocked/ignored. I've had a similar issue. Is there a 'wish/query list' that you put these entries onto. If not, there should be imo. No prob with how long it takes to be implemented, if at all.

Where does it say it is one of "our" responsibilities?

Fourth entry of 'Moderator Responsibilities and Authorities.

- To alert GM staff to any issues that they feel they do not have the authority to deal with

The fact that you had to ask me that question doesn't fill me with confidence!

To be honest, I think this is meant in a forum context, not a technical one.
We do however, out of courtesy, pass on/escalate any serious issues.

That responsibility doesn't mention 'technical/forum', so all should be passed on - even if the consequence is 'no action'. It's an obligation, not a courtesy! The 'courtesy' is notifying the requester that it has been done.

Otherwise the effect is that Mods (or a Mod) who 'has no authority to deal with the issue' actually deals with it by ignoring/rejecting it! That makes no sense at all (hopefully, though perhaps it does here!)!

None of us have access to the forum administrator panel (too high a level for day to day use) to analyse and correct any forum technical issues, in fact most moderators wouldnt know how to use the Vbulletin panel as IT isnt their vocation (would you want Gibbo in there hoking about?).
Putting something into the website feedback section means that you have alerted the admin. If we feel something warrants an immediate escalation then we will forward it (ie affecting multiple/all users).
If it seems to be a browser issue or something not caused by the GM server then we respond if we have the knowledge or have seen it before.

I know this will get brought to tec's attention guys, thanks

Foxholer, it sounds as if something has got your back up? I reckon the lads doing the thankless moderator will pass requests on but as they have said there is only so much they can do.

I think it's hard enough for them to control us lot and monitor posts for breach of rules

Only the lack of communication.

And the discrepancy of explanation from Mods.

The condescending PM I got from one didn't help much either!

Im not with you, where is the discrepancy?
Dave said it is one for the tech guys, I said that anything in this section is viewed by all mods and admin and anything that can be sorted is wither commented on or passed on, if it is urgent then it is escalated via mike and Thefatcontroller.

We reply in this section if we feel we can help, we dont have to as we are not tech support for the forum. We can answer certain questions as we may have seen the issue before. As I understand it, posts in this section are to be directed towards the tech guys like TFC and anyone else who has access to the vbulletin admin panel, to reiterate though, if we can help, we will.

Brendy,

See my PM.

If it works as you state, then all's fine. From DCB's PM reply to me, it didn't appear that he knew that though.

You pm'd Dave, he said he would highlight seeing as you raised it, if you hadnt then it would have went through the same route as all other requests, you felt the need to escalate this thread, he replied. To me his reply was spot on, if someone raises an issue in forum feedback that doesnt look like it has been acted upon then I will forward it too if I feel it is valid. It doesnt happen by default though as the guys have multiple forums to look after and I know their time is very valuable.

edit: to add, if there is something urgent, pm a couple of mods (you can send to multiple users within the PM page) and it will be picked up on quicker.

That process and your method of marking any action is what I was querying - and you haven't actually clarified what happens properly.

I think Dave's Reply...

Just read your reply. Thanks for your comments. I'll highlight the thread as per your suggestion. It may however come as a surprise that GM don't actually have a team of tech wizards sitting on their thumbs to deal with every single issue highlighted in that section 24hrs per day. Rest assured that your comments have been acted upon and this has been highlighted using the appropriate channels.

DCB

was not an appropriate one - specially when I'd posted that I wasn't concerned about it myself.

A more appropriate one would have been along the lines of..
<reply>
It'll be assessed and passed on, if necessary, using the normal channels.

Between the 2 of you, you've actually reduced the 'faith' I have that suggestions get passed on, not that need worry you. :(

I think we answered just fine. Its the admins discretion how often they check the section and what gets acted upon regarding forum software config etc. We can escalate on the users behalf if it seems several users are having the same problem, we do not routinely escalate everything, its not rocket science. Anyway,I am done on this thread as I dont like repeating myself.

Kev, apologies for taking this off topic. I'll freeze the thread and if there is any news, itll be posted.
