Yes agree.
Elton John got a million quid for being called a puff.
Maybe if he asked for a reasonable amount it might have been different .
But nothing surprises me in the law courts.

Totally, if he had said "I want an apology and Half a Mill for the grief he would probably have got it, to ask for £190M just for an insult is crazy.

And there's where the (US) jury decidedf in Musk's favour - agreeing with Musk's defence that it was part of a series of 'insults' as opposed to an accusation!

Of course the likes of the Daily Mail loves this sort of controversy - it 'unites' its readers against the evils of power and money! Meanwhile its owners are enjoying precisely those benefits via offshore trusts and everything the DM is supposedly 'exposing'!

Btw. I'm not a great fan of Musk vene though I'm a frequent user of his 'old' product - Paypal. But he's certainly moving the vehicle industry in the right direction. Now all he needs to do is get power production away from fossil fuels!!

You have fallen down the hole talking about moving on the manufacturer’s.. if they are wise they will legislate his vehicles out of circulation. They fail several key areas and no one has even questioned the use of precious metals and their extraction.

I did .. and he has not moved them on, they have witnessed a market creation, yes. But moved them on, no. He is a blip in the market a short fad that will pass, when people sit down think carefully about electric cars. The OEMs have been looking at all the zero emission options and their world markets .. Tesla doesn't meet a world market requirement and is dependent on infrastructure, so his impact is peanuts he can only sell in a few markets. You will find the OEM electric alternatives are better built and more capable (I am not talking about range claims as these are quite random) and these were always in their cycle plans to cover the the shortfall between their hydrogen power source development and legislation.
The manufacturers have then reviewed his products and found they fail all of the critical lessons they have learned over 90+ years. He is not really considered credible competition, his electrical motor tech is appreciated but not held up as a beacon of technology. It is generally felt he takes short cuts and makes great media claims without finishing the development work ... but hey in this world where anyone can shout anything and repeat it we can all believe it and you can always sucker a first adopters.

Not carefully enough!
Btw. I don't disagree with (most of) what you say.
