Eggs??

I remember back in the early 70s when I worked on a holiday camp the eggs for the whole season were bought just before the season started and kept in a 'walk in fridge'. Can you imagine keeping eggs for that long out of a fridge.

I learnt from that and the eggs in my fridge often go a month past the BB date and are perfectly fine.

Seemingly you have to turn them over once a month to keep them fresh.

Farmers absolutely should get a fair price but that’s a shocking (mis)representation of the raw deal on egg pricing

Comparing the increase of the farmers ‘cost of production’ against the increased retail price point, which is then somehow touted as ‘profit’. No way is that the supermarket’s profit

They should make the case but don’t spin it. That’s just treating the viewer as an idiot
Was going to say the same.

Went to Morrisons.. needed 24 eggs for Christmas. Morrisons only does 6 packs, so got 4 packs. Went to the counter and the lady said ‘computer says 12 only’. So I asked her if I can just come around and buy another 12. She looked at me and said.. I will do this in 2 transactions… bonkers!!

Rules for rules sakes.
It is stupid if the staff just override it like that.
Did she say why only 12 ?

We have a lot of Morrison's stores up here. They have an egg shortage, along with some other supermarkets, due to a price dispute with producers. They restrict buyers as otherwise people panic buy, hoard and the shelves are empty. We have seen it before haven't we? If only they had done this with toilet rolls, remember that at the beginning of covid ?.

Incidentally, I don't think aldi have a dispute as their shelves have all been well stocked with eggs in comparison.

Ok thought it was the bird flu outbreak.
I got some in Sainsburys yesterday and they had pallets full.

But had run out of indigestion tablets I wonder why ?;)

Perhaps it's a combination but it seems odd that both of the Morrison's near me have low stocks and restrictions yet Aldi and lidl shops in the same area have no issues.

over two decades of married life has taught me not to ask such dumb questions ?

My wife is a ‘feeder’ … we always seem to have everyone in the family, friends and +1s around for Christmas.. I am sure I will be doing another round before the year is out
