Eddie Jones

What EJ said reveals his true character, I’m sure he’s not very pleasant. What bothers me about this is the timing. It’s been deliberately held back for months to get the biggest impact.

Thought the thread was about Eddie Jones. Do you not think the position of England national team coach requires a bit more class and tact than that of some drunken post match fans? Man may be a good coach but he lacks class. Don't see the trash talk from any of the other top 10 international sides coaches.
I would suggest that he’s an Australian with a sense of humour.
He said it with a smile on his face, no malice involved.

I don't think Jim was managing Scotland last year.
Semantics. See Simon Bergan, current player. Arrogant English...blah blah etc etc

Eddie won’t go before the World Cup. He could burn a kilt whilst eating porridge with sugar :o and still there, it’s all about the WC

Why do you care anyway. He was nice about Scotland

He is clearly joking, both when he calls Wales a "little sh*t place" and particularly when he refers to England being beaten by the "scummy Irish". If you watch the video, you will see he is sharing the stage with an Irishman and is clearly making a joke with him.

The amount of faux outrage these days saddens me. It's not like any offence was intended, there is no malice behind the comments. Perhaps they are in bad taste, but hardly cause for his sacking.

Absolutely spot on!

Totally different to Jamie Carrigher's incident however!

Paul Casey's (supposed) anti-US incident was another 'blown up out of all proportion' one that didn't justify anything more than some 'good natured' jeering.

Wasn't like this when Andy Murray made a football joke about England with Tim Henman, oh no that was a hate him forever moment for many of you down south, same ones defending Eddie Jones i expect.

Well if you so think that it was ok for Murray to say what he did, the same must apply for EJ then?
Or is it anyone Celtic can say what they like about anything English but anyone connected to anything English cant recirpocate?
Perhaps it was all just tongue in cheek, and said with humour and without malice?

I'd go with the last idea, but then I'm English of Scottish desent.

Well you can almost smell the bitterness

Seems to be a certain amount of “lumping” people together based on their nationality- imagine if “us English” did that towards the Scottish - the crying would be unbearable for the usual suspects

So a few things

Murray is not hated by the English - he is very much supported by a great deal of English people - he has made jokes against the English and supports people playing against England football teams - so what , certainly not a crime

Eddie Jones was cracking jokes along with an Irishman about Ireland and Wales and it was a friendly atmosphere- but oh look it appears to have offended certain people from Scotland ( bitterness flowing )

And regardless of what happens with the Ireland game Eddie Jones will be around for the World Cup - even if the normal bitter people are desperate for him to go

Not long ago this would have all just been laughed at and treated exactly how it’s meant - what a shame agendas have made some so bitter towards each other’s nations

And im sure all the Scots thought it brilliant what Murray said, yet a disgrace what Eddie said.........

If this place is a microcosm of the general feeling between nations of the so called United Kingdom I can't understand why the Scottish referundum vote was "no" so can only hope it bears no real resemblance to how the average man in the street feels. Such bitterness and resentment between nations which are supposed to be united is just incredibly sad and not a little pathetic.

I for one am sick of reading these sentiments on this forum.
