An interesting opening day at the Emirates GC. Bernd Wiesberger leads the way but decent performances from Lee Westwood and Rory whilst Martin Kaymer appears to be suffering no ill effects from his melt down two weeks ago.

And Seve's in the top 10 whilst Ballesteros Junior is in the field! (Albeit last!)

Great days play.

Would be interesting to hear the Westwood knockers[I think I might have been one] comment
on his short game.
Today it was as good as anyones and his putting was sublime.

Don't get to carried away tone, even a broken clock is right twice a day!!

Would be out of sight already if his putting was at a level close to the rest of his game. Utterly ridiculous just how good he is driving the ball

Yup...his driving is ridiculous. The driver he has currently (which I assume is the same one at the Ryder Cup) is something like the 17th version they gave to him to try. It is so dialled in now, with specs, there is no way they can get any more out of it. It shows!

When he hit into the last, and dumped it in the water, I love the way he twirled his club, and then looked at it, as though it was the clubs fault the ball got wet. It's not the clubs fault!

more than likely looking to see where it hit on the face

Andy Sullivan keeping himself well in the mix but where the hell did Kaymer come from up from, -8 today through 17

Have a feeling Madsen is going to get a penalty soon
