DSQ - doing it to yourself in a team match

I'm not following this very well. This player has a bad start to a round so does something that rules him out of the round. Yes? (Does dsq not get a .1 increase I assume not). So he's protecting his handicap to stay lower that what he maybe realistically playing off. Yes? And we are concerned about this because?

because...I/club have already committed to the next two matches...and they are proper big boy stuff....so chances are he will throw in the towel there as well.

I assumed it counted towards ones handicap...but as of yet, no-ones has moved...it is normally straight after the results are published (1hr minimum)...either way, we don't want people throwing in the towel early doors. I would rather have a lesser player who tries his best...all the time....sets a bad example to rest of squad and club....unless of course they had an exceptional talent...like a +2 handicap etc.....one player who returns a level par round can really make the difference when you total up the best 5....but that would be a rare thing......

Personally its not fair on other players - I'd punish him by not including him in the next match. Sort his attitude out otherwise he gets kicked out altogether! He is representing his club! he should be more proud than to DSQ!

so, just found out...that this does NOT count towards your official handicap....just scores go towards the team....best team wins and buys all the beers...and that is that..........so makes it even more galling that he DSQ himself....mm...right off to hit a few balls....not fat please.........
