I got a DJI Neo2 just after Christmas, basically to have a bit of fun over the summer with the pooch on the beach.

Has anyone got one? Use regularly? Any tips?

Download the CAA app that shows where you can fly. It’s best to check every time as there will be occasions when an area you usually in become restricted air space for a short time/specific reason.

If you haven’t got one, not that you NEED one, get an operator ID and dymo it to the body of the drone. If you lose it and it’s handed in to the Police they can find you through the CAA.

There are regulations for drones, where to fly etc, but for drones below 250g those regs are very much relaxed.

I can’t remember if the NEO 2 has geo-fencing and self-altitude limiting.

Cheers Bri, did a bit research before buying it and the Regs have changed and do again in 2028, so I have both my Operator and Pilot licences, then I’ve registered with the CAA.

It’s a very lightweight drone with a bit of fun elements bit in, selfie mode, follow mode and a bit more.

Edit: Need to check if it has geo-fencing or self-altitude limiting, still working on settings etc.

If you get really into it, buy a spare battery or two. You’ve got less than 20 mins flying time from one battery. It’ll tell you when it’s low. It sets “home point” on take off. Not sure about the NEO 2 but it will announce “returning to home point” when the battery gets low.

If you’re flying and spot a bird of prey, crows or sea gulls consider landing. Birds of prey and crows will attack it, sea gulls sometimes.

I think the NEO 2 will tell you if it’s too windy, the 3 does. Also, there’s apps about that will tell you wind speed at different altitudes. What you get at ground level isn’t always the same at 120m(max permitted altitude)

Will you use it at the golf course at all? I fancy having one filming the tee shots from 150 yards away hovering above the fairway. (Cue all the "well it won't catch any of your shots hovering there"). Or an overhead view of long putts moving sideways as they track the hole.

I had it “follow me” when playing our Par 4 9th between Christmas & New Year, it was interesting😬

I’ll try and link it on here.😵‍💫

I think the vid you took of it following when it was snowing & the drone had branches to contend with is very impressive.

Cracking bit of kit

More vain looks at the camera than a teenage girl influencer :ROFLMAO:

Can you set it so it is behind you when you take your shot so you can see the ball flight?
This was my first, and up to now, only attempt on the Golf Course, it’s weird getting use to it and yes, I did keep checking were it was, as did the other guys😂😂

You can set it on automatic to follow you from 3 different heights and from 12 positions.

The other option would be to fly it manually and set it higher to catch the flight of the ball, haven’t attempted that.

is that ridge and furrow you are playing on?

on another note a word of caution i got a drone for the dog to chase a couple of years ago. he loved it went mental, until one day the battery ran out, destroyed before i could get it off him :ROFLMAO:

Course is 114yrs Old, there are a few holes that could possibly be described as ridge and furrow,

Obi hates it or loves it, by that I mean he tries to get it.😂😂
