I was more using it as a rough guide until I can hit the course this weekend, new irons and all that, good to get an idea of what i'm hitting them. But yes - not ideal.
 
Apparently this lady was in the bay next to me today
i was so in the zone i didn't notice :whistle:

There are regularly people there that don't play golf very often or have just gone for a bit of fun, which is fine. The worst situation I had was where someone skied there driver so badly it hit the roof of the range and fired back into my bay (the one next door), I laughed it off and the guy was very apologetic. Also don't like the loud bang when someone gets the shank and hits the wall separating the bays

That, my good sir, is a marvelously executed passive brag! Starting a thread about funny driving range encounters and then casually mentioning how your smoothly hit irons made that guy go into full berserk mode trying to match your distances until he finally forgot about his own ball completely is close to genius! ;)

Keeping proper balance in that shoes isn't bad, either. Plus that head turn is really impressive. If she can turn the rest of her body that far, she must have one hell of a swing!
 
There are a couple of ranges where you get some idiots, normally teens or macho man. I use one tucked away and a bay at the very end where I am usually left undistubed to get on with it. There's a good one at Maidenhead (sadly a longer trek since moving) very excluded and usually a real oasis of tranquility.

If I get a muppet next bay to me I'll usually get a cuppa and let them machine gun the balls out, smirking inwardly and then crack on again
 
Driving ranges need to group of guys going there for a laugh and to just have a bit of fun smacking it as hard as they can - they wouldnt survive with just your normal golfer because mainly they are out on the course
 
I practice at Clydeway Golf Centre! There's a guy who practices there, and I think he may have played professionally in his youth and enjoys loudly talking angles and planes and trajectories to his legion of old age fan boys.

Up to the furthest point in the range from him to practice in peace and you can still hear him talking crap!! Absolute pain in the rear!!
 
When I went the other day I was unfortunately next to a man who had to give a loud running commentary after every single shot he hit.

"Oh come on what are you doing"
"Oh my god that is awful"
"Hmm slightly better"
"I'm getting there I'm getting there"
"ARRGHHHHHH WHAT WAS THAT"
"Useless you are, absolutely useless"

As you can imagine it was pretty annoying...
