Driving Net and Mat advice

I shall let you know....

Your setup is AWESOME!!! I am seriously envious!! Do you have any problems with noise later at night or anything. Is the ceiling high enough for driver and 3 wood and the like?

Oh you aprear to have a Vector launch monitor? Surly that is better than anything we have talked about!!
Thanks.
No problems with noise as it is in my warehouse with no housing anywhere close, so it's ideal. The ceiling is high enough -just. When I bought the net the supplier told me to ensure I had enough height. they said you need 3m x 3m x 3m. I had about 2.95 in height which they said would be OK and they modified the poles for me. I am 6'2" so if it works for me it should work for most. It is surprising how much room a net takes up, especially installed inside and I can't imagine too many houses having enough space. Industrial premises are ideal. As I say, my nearest range is 30 mins away, which means you need a couple of hours to get any meaningful practice in. the end result is that you don't go very often. This way I can practice when I like, which is great, though I realise there are limitations compared with a range.
The Vector Pro is OK. I bought it off eBay, but it needs recalibrating and it does take some setting up. It does give some great feedback though, not least shot shape.

Thanks.

So surly the Vector does way more then your other little box? I understand it works on 2 cameras? is that right? The new one auto sets its self up, very cool little toy for the money. Ultimately I would like to get one. In the mean time you have made my outdoor range feel weak!! :o

"I am working late again babe...."

Thanks! That is very helpful.
Here is the Swing Byte 2 review I read, that nearly had me buying one

www.golfwrx.com/108418/swingbyte-2-mobile-golf-swing-analyzer-review/

The reviewer seems blown away with it and says they have sorted out the attachment to the shaft issues. he also says it does provide some shot shape representation?

Did you consider the Sky Pro and 3 bays and if so, can you say what swayed you to the Swing Byte 2?

The Vector definately does a lot more than the ES12, no doubt. It just takes so much setting up. The newer version does set itself up and that is great. I need to speak with the manufacturer. I think there is an upgrade you can get. The vector does work on 2 cameras, effectively taking two photos in very quick succession. It even displays the pics. From that it calculates everything, including what to eat for breakfast tomorrow.
For quick practice the ES12 is great. Takes about 10 secs to turn on and select the club you are hitting. You don't even have to look at the screen. If you connect it by Bluetooth to your phone, it uses the speaker to shout out the numbers. Another good reason to be in a quiet location. A bit embarrassing when you chunk a 7 iron 100 yards. :o

I have been about to buy one of these devices ever since they came out. I am pretty technical and actually that can hold me back, I get too into the nuts and bolts and should be clearing my mind not filling it. However, I am becoming a reasonable golfer but because of the amount of practice I do in the net each night I end up having a different swing every week. I got the swingbyte 2 because I wanted fact, and the main fact I want is direction. If it is accurate path and face to path info, I dont need a picture drawn for me, I can work out the flight to a greater or lesser degree. I just want to be able to work onto the course and know I have been practicing a shot that makes target rather than a beautifully struck shot that sounds and flies great but not in the intended direction.

The Swingbyte does not know where it is in space so if you start with the club head open it take that as the start point and assumes its pointing down the target line(until now). They have cleverly added a feature to deal with this, you put your Ipad (or whatever) Behind you and it uses the camera and a graphic, you move the circle/graphic over the ball and now the Swingbyte can see the ball/target line.

Clearly to this point everything I have said is academic. I had a play at lunchtime, there are some junior clubs in the office and it seems awesome!! Tonight it will get a good testing and I shall feed back. The device did not twist but I was hitting a junior 7 iron at 55 mph so we will see.
