Morning gents.

I am desperate for a new driver.

Been falling out of love with the Nike SQ Machspeed for quite a while, it goes very well although it sounds like I have hit the ball with a dustbin lid. So I have decided its time to move on.

So anyway, if you can spare the time, post up some bits and bobs about your driver.

General thoughts.

I have read through the reviews that the Pro's etc. put up on the GM Site and while they are informative, it would be interesting to see how well they are performing for everyone else.

I have tried a few already and had a few out on the course, but nor for any prolonged length of time.

Cheers.

I bought a Titleist D2 910 a couple of months ago and am absolutely delighted with it.

You need to have them set up in the first instance by a Pro IMO so that you get the right club for your swing, but when you have it it is fun to play around with the settings as you can always return to the original one before a round.

Mine is with a regular shaft and set on D2

Hope you come to the right decision for you

Chris

There are a lot of 910's and R11's about now. Not seen much else being brought.

Had a hit with both and liked the smaller 910 a lot. Both good clubs though.

I play with a Nike VR Tour which I really like and would definatly get again but that might not be what your looking for.

r9 supertri is a great driver that was £280 5 months ago. as low as £190 now

Thats a club designed for high swing sppeds. I have had a go with it, connection was great, although I wasn't swinging quick enough to get the full benefit of the club.

The 910 is without doubt the 'darling' of the forum at the moment. So much so that if I had the cash it would be on the shopping list for sure.

As for me. I've gone backwards in tech. I've taken the MP600 out of the bag and put the MX500 back in. It seems to be working. I guess that's the advantage of keeping old kit rather than selling it.

Unless you have a reasonable swing I'd avoid titleist. They don't really make forgiving clubs. The 910 is more forgiving than usual, but you still need to put a half decent swing on it.

I have the 08 Tour Burner from TM in 10.5 degrees, regular flex (stock TM RE AX 60 gramme shaft). It's a very forgiving club and pretty good on the noise front and is certainly no Nike Sumo (remeber the racket they made) every time you hit it. I'm pretty sure they must be cheap as chips now

Absolute baws! Have you ever seen my swing and I nail the bugger.

Best driver I've ever owned and by God there has been a few.

Craw, I have sigs turned off so I have no idea what you or the op play off, but I seem to remember you are off single digits. Your idea, and mine, of a shonky swing may not be the same as the op's. I have nt hit a 910, but have prior experience of the last 3 generations of titleist drivers, none of which were even vaguely suitable for anyone off less than 5. May be the 910 is different, but I doubt it.

I've got a sumo 5000 10.5 degree, proforce v2 stiff shaft. I love it; keep going back to it despite my head being turned by newer shiner models. It sounds like a tin can but it gets it out there.

I tried a 910 d2, liked it, even though I have a hatred of adjustable drivers. However I bought a memory foam mattress instead as it was no better than my Nike.

Trust me... It is.
Like you, I couldn't hit the 909, but was blown away by the 910. If you haven't tried it how can you judge it?

General thoughts It's designed to be ultra forgiving, and very long. It succeeds at the forgiveness, but I just don't see it as anything other than standard distance. Which is no bad thing tbh. On a good day it does help me keep things straighter, but on a bad day my swing is so bad, no club could possibly help it improve.

HTH

I have a 909d3 at the min, it goes very well most the time, odd bad one, but thats me, not the club.

Why get rid of the machspeed if it goes well? I know you said you dont like the noise off it, I played one all last year, so I know what you mean, but if it goes well, why change?

If I had the cash, I doubt there would be a 910 for me. :o

Not such a fan of the R11 as it has too many adjustments, I prefer one setting and just hit the bugger.
Got my Burner Superfast 2.0 yesterday, replaces my g15 and immediately noticed the more penetrating flight which for me is a revelation, definitely longer too which I put down to the flight and maybe less backspin.

The forgiveness of the G15 means you would have to prise if out of my cold dead hands, I seem to have got the shaft/swing/head combo right as I seem to hit the ball long enough.
