Played a club match away from home today and a player in the group ahead was struck by a ball and he fell to the floor like a sack of potatoes.

We could see from a distance that he wasnt getting up and players from all over the place gatherered to help out. The ambulance was called and thankfully he seemed OK, he was knocked out for a few minutes and he is going to have one hell of a sore head in the morning but hopefully nothing more serious than that.

The guy that we all know struck the errant tee shot denied it completely, He went up to a ball nearby and said no thats my ball - -not me mate. It couldnt of come from anywhere else but he didnt want to take responsibility. What he probably did was to hit a provisional and that is the ball he claimed as his only ball. The first hit the old boy on the top of his head!!

Bad form.

Surely though someone in the group would have seen the guys ball hit him unless he was playing alone. If the proverbial hit the fan legally there would have been witnesses

It was a 2 ball and from where they tee'd from they could not have seen the player who was hit, a wall of very tall fir trees would have obscured their view. The consensus was that it came from their tee box, we told the marshall and he had a word with them but AFAIK no details were taken. Someone did say that they caught their number plate as they left later but not sure that it will come to anything. Maybe different if he had sustained serious injury.
