so the guy could just carry his bag for the other holes and only play the par 3's,how would that affect my game if he was just having a few practice shots getting ready for the ones that counted, would you like tp play with someone who was not bothered for 12 holes.

I freqently play with people who aren't bothered for all 18 holes.

What did you want him to do? Force him to play regardless? Leave the course.

If someone has NR'd they often use the rest of the round as practice- try out shots that they wouldn't risk if the score was still on the line

We had a discussion last week about 2s comps.

The question was if a player NRD at the 10th hole , could he just walk to the next par 3 the 17th at my club[ without playing the holes in between] and gets a 2, would he be within the rules. We were told not allowed , your thoughts .

PS sorry for the hijack .
If he leaves your group on the 10th and plays the 17th next, who would sign his card to verify the 2?

so you think it is ok for someone in your group playing in a comp to just have a practice, picking balls up having the odd putt now and then, sorry that would not be good for your concentration would it.

Sorry but each one of your posts is all about you and your game. The guy can do as he wants with his card. As you can with yours. Can't see how it being used as a practice round or whatever, can have any effect on your game if you just concentrate on what your doing and leave the guy to do his own thing.

What if the FC is having the proverbial 'mare? Is that going to affect your concentration and should he then be told to "do one"?

It seems to me that some people can be a little precious about their own performance.

Then maybe that says more about your own concentration.

Would you like him to walk in instead ?
