Downshire Golf Complex - Change of management

It looks like the LA are looking to outsource management of the Downshire Golf Complex starting early 2018.

I wonder what golf operator might be interested in taking this on? Maybe it might suit one that has recently lost a nearby course to developers.

Surely you mean 40 regular and 10 affordable, whatever affordable is. That seems to be the standard at the moment. Apparently that makes it acceptable to build on open spaces 😬

What do you mean? I don't think any houses are being built it's just a management change.

Not sure if its coincidence but I rocked up there at 5.30 and everything in darkness and the car park locked! Hoping it was just the staff christmas beano

Yeah that's unrelated, as you say maybe a staff xmas do or something else.

No change expected until at least 2018 but it's almost certain that the course will be managed by a 3rd party then.

Greenwich Leisure would be a likely bidder for the package of three sites. Wouldn't think the L A will be looking to have them individually managed, more likely a group management.

I turned up at Downshire at about 08.15 yesterday morning, because I was a bit early arriving for a funeral at nearby Easthampstead Cemetry and was hoping to buy breakfast. The clubhouse didn't seem to very open although there were golfers there. I eventually managed to get a rather grudgingly made cup of coffee and a stale mince pie. I wasn't impressed!
