Sleeve after sleeve. Box after box?

Do you have a particular liking towards a specific brand/model of ball?

I do.

I used to play the Srixon AD333 and thought it an excellent ball, but wanted a little more around the greens, so switched to DX3's. Again, fantastic balls but it didn't quite fit the bill.

In the end I took a punt on a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1's, and haven't looked back since. Good flight, great control greenside and pretty soft to boot. I've been tempted to try the Srixon Z-Star, especially as they are on offer at Online Golf, but I feel settled with the Pro V, despite the hefty price tag.

Why do you play the ball that you do?

Or

Do you just game with whatever ball you can get your hands on?

Do you feel there is a benefit to playing the same brand and model of ball time after time, or is it just a bunch of marketing guff?

I play any of the premium balls Spring to Autumn - to me there's no discernable difference.

At the moment I'm using almost anything - I'm hitting it sideways and with greens this soft I can get backspin with a TopFlite so there's no need to use anything decent.

There will be a difference between premium balls but you'd need to hit it out of the screws every time to see it so, for me, there's no brand loyalty.

every once in a while ill try somthing new.... usually if the shiney packaging catches my eye in the shop.
But i always end up going back to the pro v1x.

I'd say i'm playing that 95% of the year. Cant fault it to be honest.

Play whatever i can get, only play new balls if won in ntp etc

Not good enough player to take advantage of any design improvement from one ball to the next (although I avoid yellow balls as I cant hit them as well)

I'll play whichever Premium ball I can get cheap during the main season. I'm currently using Callaway HX Diablo Tours for the winter which are a surprisingly good ball.

Happy playing most 'Premium' balls.

While Penta/TP5 is current preference, I'm happy with any of the Bridgestone or Srixon ones or the ProV black.

Nike and Callaways don't sound/feel very nice.

NXT Tour S seems a really good ball though.

I find plenty, so haven't bought a ball for 3 years!

I like the Srixon Z-Star through the summer months. Though I did buy done FG Tours for a cut price at the end of this summer and really liked them so may switch to those next season.

Through the winter though I really don't think model if ball matters, been using Callaway Warbird balls this winter a but rock like but they give good distance in cold weather an with wet greens stop on the spot.

Never got on with Nike balls though just find the softer ones cut to pieces with short irons and their cheaper balls just do t feel nice around the greens

Im a Titleist dude . pro v's for the summer & nxt or pts/dt solo for this time of year ..

was given a sleeve of pentas during the summer , tried them & liked them , they do scuff up pretty easy tho ..

^^^ This - Got a dozen Callaway Hex's waiting in the wings (thanks GM) that'll be going in play in a couple of rounds time but will probably return to the Pro-V as always!

Always ProV1, mainly bought off ebay though so rarely pay more than 1.50 a ball and a ball will usually last a round or two. I'm not saying I get the most out of it, I just like the feel around the greens and I don't see the point in adding an unnecessary variable into the equation.

I'd probably play ProVs all the time if I didn't keep baulking at the price. If they ever went on offer I'd stock up but they don't so I buy whichever premium ball is on offer when I need them.

Tried them all but keep coming back to the Prov's . With the new putter trying out the original prov rather than the x to see if any difference on the greens.

Practice bag during the winter, saves cash and I don't bother searching the bushes, or long grass, for them.

Usually Bridgestone 330 and ZStar during summer, depending on which ones were bought .... although I did like the nXT tour s that Titleist sent me, shame about Tittie prices.

I must admit i do prefer Pro V1's, but due to being much cheaper I tend to go for Srixon Zstars. They are £19.99 in AG so have 3 boxes for next season. I might get some more and that will cover me for all medal's/ties for next year.

This year I tried a couple of models away from my usual ProV1 .
I tried the Callaway Tour iX , the Taylormade tp5 and Titleist NX Tour S (for the winter, first time away from prov really)

The callaways feel grand off the irons but didnt like putting with them, I dont know if it is the pronounced dimple pattern or what, but didnt putt well with them.
The TM Penta 5TP is a lovely ball, no difference in feel from the prov1 and distance wasnt a problem, made a louder noise off the tee with the driver though strangely.

Im not an overly brand loyal golfer and whatever does the job does me so wont feel aggrieved using any of them should there be no prov1s in the shop.

I lose too many so I play with what even I can get cheap or find on the course. I do keep the better ones for comps and I do buy some new ones when I have the money from comps.

Though no other reason than I seemed to like them initially I tend to like to play Srixon balls. Whether they be AD333, soft feel or the TriSpeed, which i think is an excellent ball.

I like callaway balls too and the Nike's are pretty good but if someone said here have 1,000 balls, i'd go for the srixon trispeed because i like it.

I dont think a ball really does that much for you so down to preference really.
